Abstract: Daniel Walter Bernard Luckenbill (b.1945) began work at the UCLA Library (1970) and continues in the Manuscripts Division, Department of Special Collections. He studied writing with Christopher Isherwood, John Rechy, and Elisabeth Nonas. His first stories were published in the mid 1970s and anthologized in On the line: new gay fiction (1980). He also edited and wrote several exhibit catalogs for the UCLA Library. Boxes 1-14 include research material, notes, drafts, manuscripts, publications, correspondence, research material, and business correspondence from writers and editors. UCLA Catalog Record ID UCLA Catalog Record ID: 4233341 Biography Daniel Walter Bernard Luckenbill was born in Decatur, Illinois, March 25, 1945; moved to Los Angeles in 1964; BA, University of California, Los Angeles (1966); commissioned 2LT, U.S. Army (Field Artillery) 1967, with two campaigns in Viet Nam, 1968-69); began work at the UCLA Library (1970) and continues in the Manuscripts Division, Department of Special Collections; studied writing with Christopher Isherwood, John Rechy, and Elisabeth Nonas; first stories published in the mid 1970s and anthologized in On the line: new gay fiction (1980); he edited and wrote several exhibit catalogs for the UCLA Library including Sylvester & Orphanos (1990) and With equal pride: gay & lesbian studies at UCLA (1993). Scope and Content Boxes 1-14 include research material, notes, drafts, manuscripts, publications, and correspondence. Also includes records of a class with John Rechy including annotations and critiques written by Rechy, research material related to the Greek painter Yannis Tsarouchis, and business correspondence from writers and editors Winston Leyland, Daniel Curzon (Daniel Brown), and Ian Young.
