Dominic Joseph Bump, O.P., the son of Wayne and Cher Bump of Dublin, OH, and Carol Fry of Huntsville, OH, was one of six men ordained to the priesthood by Bishop Christopher Cardone, O.P. of Auki, Solomon Islands, for the Dominican Order on May 24 at Saint Dominic Church in Washington, D.C. Priestly ordination permanently sets a man apart for public ministry in the Church, specifically entrusting to him the responsibilities of celebrating Masses and hearing confessions. The dedication of our church predates the Civil War, the Church’s solemn proclamation of the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception, the appearance of Our Lady of Lourdes to St. Bernadette, and the birth of St. Thérèse of Lisieux. A lot has happened in our history and there have been many graces over the years. Please join me for a special 6:30 p.m. Mass on that Wednesday evening, followed by a reception organized by the Pastoral Council.
