Chamois in , Austria, & France

Season: 15 September - 15 December

Highlights: We hunt in the French and Austrian Alps and Romanian Carpathians. Among all European Chamois subspecies, the Romanian one boasts with the biggest size both in body and trophy as well. We offer this hunt for collectors and mountain lovers, whom like work hard for a trophy on higher altitudes and admire all the beauties the land and authentic hunt could offer.

Hunting area: Our hunting areas in the Fagaras, Retezat, Parang Mountains in the Southern Carpathians are the home of the world’s biggest Chamois, where we hunt exclusively on close to a half a million acres of wonderful hilly and mountainous habitat of bears, , huge wild boars, and majestic red stags. Hunting method: It’s a typical daily backpack spot and stalk hunt, leaving the B&B before sunlight and returning back by dark. The best timing is during the mating season (mid-October-mid November), when the male chamois is really territorial and active all day. As we hunt in 1500- 2500 meter (4000-7000 feet) altitude above sea level among steep mountains, good physical condition raises the chances for a successful hunting outcome. 2-3 hours of climbing is expected daily to reach the zones where the chamois are, patient glassing till spotting the animal, then the stalk begins to get in shooting distance without spooking the all-time high-alert chamois. Later in the season (from mid-November) the chamois usually can be found at lower elevation as the summits get snow covered, so the success can be achieved for hunters with average physical conditions. Hunters required to present solid shooting skills up to 200-300 yards in different angles and positions. Mental preparedness also recommended for unpleasant weather conditions, especially in the late season.
