Cooma-Monaro Shire Final Report 2015 Date: 22 October 2015 Cooma-Monaro LGA Final Report 2015 1 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY LGA OVERVIEW Cooma-Monaro Local Government Area The Cooma-Monaro Shire Council area is located in the south east region of NSW. The Shire comprises a land area of approximately 5229 square kilometres comprising undulating to hilly rural grazing land, timbered lifestyle areas and retreat bushland. The Local Government Area (LGA) is adjoined by four other LGAs – Palerang to the north, Tumut and Snowy River to the west, Bombala to the south and Bega Valley to the east. The main economic activities in the Shire include sheep and cattle grazing plus the “provision” of hobby farms / rural home sites in the Cooma area for the Cooma market, in the Michelago area (ie the northern part of the Shire) for the Canberra market and at various other locations including along the Murrumbidgee River and at the southeast periphery near Nimmitabel. These rural/ residential blocks and bush retreats cater for a number of sub markets and demand tends to ebb and flow. Number of properties valued this year and the total land value in dollars The Cooma-Monaro LGA comprises Residential, Rural, Commercial, Industrial, Infrastructure/Special Purposes, Environmental and Public Recreation zones. 5,388 properties were valued at the Base Date of 1 July 2015, and valuations are reflective of the property market at that time. Previous Notices of Valuation issued to owners for the Base Date of 1 July 2014. The Snowy River LGA property market generally has remained static across all sectors with various minor fluctuations. -

El “Grupo Mobila” ha querido contribuir con éste instrumento a atender el sentir de muchos profesionales y entidades vinculadas a la enseñanza de la carpintería y ebanistería, para que se compendiaran conocimientos relevantes a su esfera de actuación. Este trabajo se lleva a cabo, por tanto, para cooperar al mantenimiento de los conocimientos de la materia y quiere ser un referente indispensable para la formación de aquellas personas que deseen iniciarse en éste campo laboral por medio de las Escuelas Taller, Casas de Oficios, Talleres de Empleo o la Formación Profesional Ocupacional. El manual se constituirá sin duda en recurso didáctico para docentes de dicho ámbito en la que existe una necesidad permanente de herramientas específicas para la enseñanza. Esperamos que el desarrollo de ésta experiencia sea satisfactoria para el aprendizaje de la carpintería y la ebanistería, y su aprovechamiento equiparable a la ilusión puesta en la elaboración del mismo. -

CONTRIBUTOR Daniel Prosser is a historian and preservation architect. He holds an M.Arch. from Ohio State University and a Ph.D. in history from Northwestern University. Before retiring, Prosser was the Historic Sites Architect for the Kansas State Historical Society. INTRODUCTION The “Pre-Consolidation Communities of Los Angeles” context examines those communities that were at one time independent, self-governing cities. These include (presented here as themes): Wilmington, San Pedro, Hollywood, Sawtelle, Eagle Rock, Hyde Park, Venice, Watts, Barnes City, and Tujunga. This context traces the history of each of these cities (up to the point of consolidation with the City of Los Angeles), identifying important individuals and patterns of settlement and development, and then links the events and individuals to extant historic resources (individual resources and historic districts). -
