Delaney & Bonnie: Rock&Soul&Blues Amb Amics It's only rock & roll | Pep Saña | Actualitzat el 02/03/2016 a les 00:01 Delaney & Bonnie: Rock&Soul&Blues amb amics D'esquerra a dreta: George Harrison, Bonnie, Eric Clapton i Delaney Delaney & Bonnie Bramlett han passat a la història de la música per haver estat el refugi d'Eric Clapton en una època molt difícil pel guitarrista britànic i haver deixat un gran llegat musical que, a més va influir notablement en la producció musical d'altres artistes de l'època. Delaney Bramlett va néixer al 1939 a Potomac (Mississippi), i va morir a L.A. el 2008 a l'edat de 69 anys. A principis dels 60 es va traslladar a L.A, on va iniciar una solida carrera al costat de compositors de renom i aviat es va establir com a músic de sessió. Es va fer un lloc com a membre de la banda del programa de TV Shindig i va editar diversos singles (sense pena ni glòria) al costat dels seus companys (avui mítics) Leon Russell i J.J. Cale (el seu primer guitarrista). Delaney amb seu enorme magnetisme es va convertir en el ?professor emèrit? del llegat del blues/rock/soul dels EUA d'il·lustres com Eric Clapton o George Harrison, i va captivar als Beatles i a Dave Mason, qui va abandonar Traffic per traslladar-se a USA per aprendre d'ell. Com va fer George Harrison, qui li va demanar que li ensenyés a tocar la ?slide guitar?, i de pas va conèixer les essències del gospel. A qui hauran vingut a veure? em preguntava. Ho vaig descobrir després de l'actuació quan van passar als camerinos a saludar-nos. I George després d'una estona em va demanar que li ensenyés a tocar la ?slide? comentava Delaney als 70's. Bonnie Lynn O'Farrell va néixer al 1944 a Alton (Illinois), però va créixer a St. Louis, que també va veure créixer a la Reina del Rock, Tina Turner. Va iniciar la seva carrera amb nomes 13 anys com a corista al club de rythm & blues Gaslight Square, on va entrar en contacte i va aprendre d'artistes de jazz tan grans com Stan Getz, Herbie Mann o Miles Davis. Aviat es va convertir en la corista habitual de Fontella Bass, Albert King i Little Milton. De fet, ja de molt joveneta, Bonnie va passar a la història per convertir-se en la primera i única ?Ikette? blanca (les Ikettes eren el trio de coristes que acompanyaven a Ike & Tina Turner). Delaney & Bonnie Van signar per la discogràfica Stax, sent els primers artistes blancs en fitxar per la companyia negra per excel·lència (després de Motown) compartint segell amb Otis Redding, Eddie Floyd, Rufus Thomas, Sam & Dave, Booker T & The MG's, Albert King, Staple Singers, Isaac Hayes, i John Lee Hooker entre d'altres, era simplement increïble en el context de l'Amèrica d'aquell temps. El seu àlbum The Original Delaney & Bonnie & Friends (1969), és sens dubte un dels més importants dels anys 60 per la gran influència que ha tingut en la història de la música. Harrison, íntim de Clapton (que estava a punt d'intimar amb Layla, la dona del Beatle) li recomana que contracti als Bramlett de teloners, el matrimoni Bramlett tenien una sòlida banda de rock, blues i soul que havia aconseguit un so compacte. Acabava de dilapidar el futur (sense saber-ho) de la primera superbanda de la història. Perquè resulta que Eric s'avorreix tocant amb els seus Blind Faith i disfruta amb els Delaney & Bonnie & Friends. A punt de finalitzar la gira per Estats Units li demana a Delaney si pot unir-se al seu grup. A la qual cosa aquest respon afirmativament. Encantat. I Clapton aprèn els secrets del blues rock sureny i a cantar!, la seva obsessió de sempre. El resultat d'aquestes experiències es tradueixen en l'àlbum en directe Delaney & Bonnie & Friends On Tour With Eric Clapton (1970), derivat del primer amb el mateix nom. El primer àlbum en solitari d'Eric Clapton es produït per Delaney, inclou el Let It Rain i un clàssic de J.J. Cale After Midnight, i amb la formació Derek And The Dominos (que no era res més que la banda de ?friends? de Delaney & Bonnie). Déu n'hi do!. De fet, diversos components de la banda dels Bramlett s'anirien després amb Clapton per formar Eric Clapton & Dominos (famosos pel disc Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs). Un disc en directe registrat el 7 de desembre a Croydon, Anglaterra, i precisament titulat On Tour With Eric Clapton, es convertiria en el major èxit de la carrera del duo a l'any següent, impulsat per la inconfusible guitarra de Clapton, però també gràcies a grandíssimes cançons com Poor Elijah i Comin' Home.     ERIC CLAPTON BIOGRAFIA Eric Patrick Clapton nasceu em 30/03/1945 em Ripley, Inglaterra. Ganhou a sua primeira guitarra aos 13 anos e se interessou pelo Blues americano de artistas como Robert Johnson e Muddy Waters. Apelidado de Slowhand, é considerado um dos melhores guitarristas do mundo. O reconhecimento de Clapton só começou quando entrou no “Yardbirds”, banda inglesa de grande influência que teve o mérito de reunir três dos maiores guitarristas de todos os tempos em sua formação: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck e Jimmy Page. Apesar do sucesso que o grupo fazia, Clapton não admitia abandonar o Blues e, em sua opinião, o Yardbirds estava seguindo uma direção muito pop. Sai do grupo em 1965, quando John Mayall o convida a juntar-se à sua banda, os “Blues Breakers”. Gravam o álbum “Blues Breakers with Eric Clapton”, mas o relacionamento com Mayall não era dos melhores e Clapton deixa o grupo pouco tempo depois. Em 1966, forma os “Cream” com o baixista Jack Bruce e o baterista Ginger Baker.
