2019 BOWIE BAYSOX GAME NOTES Wednesday, August 28, 2019 - 6:45 p.m. FirstEnergy Stadium -- Reading, PA Bowie Baysox (74-60, 44-22) @ Reading Fightin' Phils (77-56, 38-28) LHP Alex Wells (8-4, 2.81 ERA) vs. RHP Spencer Howard (1-0, 2.52 ERA) Game #135 // Road Game #65 2019 SEASON In Case You Missed It: The Baysox evened the series against Reading with a 3-1 win over Reading on Tuesday night. With Overall Record 74-60, 44-22 the game tied at one in the eighth inning, Brett Cumberland gave Bowie the lead with a solo home run. Cedric Mullins Home Record 41-29 added an insurance run later in the inning with an RBI double. The Baysox other run on the night came on an RBI triple from Road Record 33-31 Mason McCoy. Zac Lowther gave Bowie an outstanding start, allowing just one run in 6.0 innings and striking out eight. Versus Eastern Division 26-19 Steve Klimek pitched a scoreless seventh inning and earned the win, while Cristian Alvarado picked up a six-out save. Versus Western Division 48-41 Current Streak W1 Baysox Starter: LHP Alex Wells will make his 23rd start of the year for the Baysox today. Wells is coming off his toughest Last Homestand 5-2 outing of the year, allowing seven runs in 4.1 innings against Altoona. Six of the seven runs came in the fifth inning. Wells has allowed four runs or more in three of his last six starts, but has not allowed more than four runs in any of his other starts Current Road Trip 1-1 this season. Since returning 7/30 vs. Reading W, 6-5 after making 16 appearances with Triple-A Norfolk, Herb has made six starts and is 4-0 with a 2.00 ERA in 36.0 innings. 7/31 vs. Reading L, 3-1 8/26 at Reading L, 4-2 Clutch Cumberland: C Brett Cumberland has hit two game-tying or go-ahead home runs in the eighth inning or later 8/27 at Reading W, 3-1 in the last week, with one coming from each side of the plate. Last night, Cumberland hit a go-ahead solo home run as a 8/28 at Reading right-handed hitter in the win against Reading. Last Wednesday, Cumberland hit a game-tying blast from the left side in 8/29 at Reading the ninth inning in a win against Binghamton.
