Student, Department of Art and Architecture, Yazd Branch, Islamic Azad University, Yazd, Iran Received 19 April 2017; revised 9 May 2017; accepted 24 May 2017 Abstract Combining Persian miniature and literature together has been influential in the recent decades. Illustrated Shahnameh Demot (Book of Kings, Great Persian Epic), which is known as the most valuable illustrated artwork in the first Tabrīz school, is considered to be the special style of Persian Illustration or Miniature during Mughal Ilkhanid era, taking advantage of interaction between literature and painting. This article attempts to examine artistic and visual qualities of the illustration “Alexander the Great (Sikandar) in conversation with WakWak tree” in Ilkhanid era. A descriptive-analytic approach is used to investigate the interaction between literature and illustration. The research results indicated that the tree is a concept existing beyond human mind, and that it is embodied through symbolism. In Shahnameh, WakWak tree or Talking tree is a symbolic tree where Alexander is in conversation with WakWak tree and the tree foresees his future. As the art is always influenced by the ideology underscoring the era, it could be alleged that mythological thought has been influential in the artistic structure of illustration, and it has been turned into an aesthetic language that has led to the reflection of the evolution of poetry in the illustration. -

The Mack Walks: Short Walks in Scotland Under 10 km Kincardine O'Neil-Old Roads Ramble (Aberdeenshire) Route Summary This is a pleasant walk in a mixed rural landscape on Deeside. The ascent from the river to the old grazing pastures on the ridge of the Hill of Dess is gradual. There are good views throughout, and many historical associations. Duration: 2.5 hours. Route Overview Duration: 2.5 hours. Transport/Parking: Frequent Stagecoach bus service along Deeside. Check timetables. On-street, or small car-park near the village hall, off The Spalings road. Length: 7.550 km / 4.72 mi. Height Gain: 163 meter. Height Loss: 163 meter. Max Height: 204 meter. Min Height: 94 meter. Surface: Moderate. On good paths and tracks. Good walking surfaces throughout and some sections have walking posts to assist route-finding. Difficulty: Medium. Child Friendly: Yes, if children are used to walks of this distance and overall ascent. Dog Friendly: Yes, but keep dogs on lead on public roads and near to farm animals. Refreshments: Freshly made sandwiches in village shop. Also, newly opened cake shop across the road. Description This walk, in an elongated figure of eight, provides a range of country and riverside environments to enjoy in scenic Deeside. The walk starts and finishes at the historic ruin of the Church of St Mary in Kincardine O’Neil, the oldest village on Deeside. The present structure dates back to the 14thC but it is believed to have been a place of Christian worship from the 6thC. This walking route takes in a number of old roads, starting with Gallowhill Road, its purpose deriving from Medieval times when every feudal baron was required to erect a gibbet (gallows) for the execution of male criminals, and sink a well or pit, for the drowning of females! Soon after, the route follows a short section of the Old Deeside Road, now a farm track, which dates to before the great agricultural improvements that started in the 1700's. -

The popular Deeside Way runs west through Kincardine O’Neil towards Aboyne and east toward Banchory, offering numerous walking, cycling and hacking options. In only a few minutes you can enjoy the trail along the North banks of the River Dee by foot or bike and the ski centres at Glenshee & the Lecht are within a short travelling distance.Schooling is provided at Kincardine O’Neil Primary School whilst secondary education is catered for at Aboyne Academy. This article focuses on Beuys’ lesser known extended “art of eating”, through which we may understand his philosophy of food or gastrosophy. Focusing on three universal food practices and their political and philosophical implications, Beuys presented home cooking as a potential art of living, foodstuffs as art objects, and the ecological rebirth of agriculture as a “social sculpture”. By suggesting that alternative methods of farming and biotechnology are necessary if the global economy and methods of agricultural production are to be run in accordance to principles of social justice and sustainability, Beuysian gastrosophy helped to prepare the humanistic and ecological foundations for Germany’s Die Grünen (Green) party ῌ a party of which Beuys was a founding member. For Beuys, modern industrial society’s transformation depended not solely but essentially on the question of whether real changes could be made in agricultural production, our consumption patterns and, ultimately, in the way we eat. This “way” is portrayed by Beuys’ extended art of eating as an ethically or gastrosophically correct everyday cuisine. Background The Nestrans Board comprises of eight Councillor Members, four from Aberdeen City Council and four from Aberdeenshire Council, along with a further four External Members. In view of the forthcoming local elections it was considered an opportune time to give grateful thanks to the Councillor Members for their service on the Nestrans Board and highlight some of the main transport related achievements in the North East by Nestrans and other public and private organisations during their period of tenure. Introduction Artist Caroline Wendling joined Deveron Arts in the autumn of 2014 to develop her project, Oaks & Amity; a project developed in response to the occasion of the centenary of the outbreak of World War One. It is a project that explored the link between ecology and art, between friendship and cooperation, precariousness and peace, one hundred years after the First World War. Through her investigation into the local history of both the First and Second World Wars, Caroline became particularly interested in the stories of local conscientious objectors and pacifists. Caroline worked with a multitude of local groups, including the Gordon Schools, Forestry Commission and war veterans, and produced a series of events exploring notions of peace and friendship in post war Europe. The major output of the project was the planting of a symbolic White Wood just outside Huntly.
