Solistenensemble KALEIDOSKOP

The Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop was founded in 2006. Originally conceived as a chamber orchestra, the ensemble has consistently transformed itself in search of new forms of music performance. Under the direction of Michael Rauter and Daniella Strasfogel, Kaleidoskop regularly joins forces with other artists to create innovative music theater projects in which the musicians themselves become protagonists. The group’s musical repertoire stretches from the early to the present day and includes commissioned works as well as works by the ensemble members themselves. Kaleidoskop works in close partnership with the performance space Radialsystem V and is a regular guest of such as the Kunstfest , Kunstfestspiele Herrenhausen, , Holland Festival, Operadagen , operadhoy and Donaueschinger Musiktagen. In addition the ensemble has a yearly residency to perform and teach at the Sommerlichen Musiktagen in Hitzacker. Kaleidoskop has performed in locations such as the Concertgebouw Brügge, Musiekgebouw , Harpa (Reykjavik, Iceland), Hellerau – European Center for the arts in Dresden and Kampnagel () and worked together with artists such as Sasha Waltz, Sabrina Hölzer, Martin Eder, Jennifer Walshe and the band Mouse on Mars. 2013-14 marks the premiere and European tour of “Van den Vos”, a collaboration with the Belgian theater group FC Bergman for which Kaleidoskop composed the score. “Van den Vos” will be presented in , Berlin, Vienna, Amsterdam and Valenciennes, as well as other cities. For the past two years, Kaleidoskop has been a recipient of a grant from the Senate Chancellery for Cultural Affairs in Berlin.
