As an important agreement between the public and private sector, the new site will include not only the new university campus, but also the Galeazzi hospital and the Human Technopole, along with other private companies interested in the project. Launching a collaboration with a network of educational institutes, Milanese universities like the Politecnico di Milano, Iulm, and the Accademia di Brera have been challenged to develop a visual identity for Mind. The community will aim to trace a masterplan along with articulated communication strategies, promoting the hub on a local, national, and international level. La Natura dell’Abitare presented a high-tech climate controlling system in Piazza Duomo. Yes No I Don't Know RELATED STORY CURIOUS BY NATURE Ratti, a Torinese engineer and architect, has made his mark on the international scene as founder and director of SENSEable City Lab at MIT - Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Boston, working to create a world where urban architecture is capable of “sensing and actuating” in real time. At the core of his efforts, Ratti looks to craft spaces with a greater capacity for flexibility and dynamism. It’s from this idea that SENSEable City takes its name, prioritizing the inhabitants within a city over the previous notion of a standard Smart City, which focuses only on the technological aspect of the metropolis in and of itself. PUBBLICITÀ - CONTINUA A LEGGERE DI SEGUITO Mind comes as a response to the University of Milan’s decision to transfer its scientific departments (including 18,000 students and nearly 2,000 researchers) from the current Città Studi campus to an entirely new area. Proposing a vision of an open campus, the hub will lay the groundwork for a new style of education, promoting exchanges between universities and international institutions. https://www.elledecor.com/it/best-of/a22891768/milan-science-park-carlo-ratti-associati/ 3/7 9/5/2018 Carlo Ratti Associati Takes on Milan’s Innovative New Science Park Courtesy Carlo Ratti Associati The revolutionary new hub was designed following five principal cardinals: the creation of a 1.5 km linear park along the decumano; the creation of common spaces accessible to all; the creation of a design following an open source principle, remaining inclusive and adaptable to change according to needs; the creation of a typological scheme inspired by the urban structure of Milan, and finally, the application of an internal transportation system that is innovative, autonomous, and ecological. With a promising new cityscape on the horizon, the University of Milan looks to lead the metropolis towards a new frontier of smart solutions.
