The game will be broadcast nationally on the Pac-12 Networks ... This is CU’s fourth game in the last five against a ranked team (and fifth this year overall) ... The Buffs are once again out to snap several losing streaks: 18 games against ranked opponents (23 losses to ranked foes on the road), 10 games in Pac-12 play, 11 straight league setbacks away from home and six games overall ... Colorado is 22-18 in games following bye weeks since 1985 (0-3 since joining the Pac-12) ... Colorado is 2-7 all-time in the state of Oregon, but last won there in 1967: a 17-13 win over Oregon in Eugene, in the first game ever played in Autzen Stadium (CU has lost four straight in the state) ... This will be CU’s fourth game in 2014 on artificial turf (1-2: win at UMass, losses at Cal and Arizona) ... On Monday, WR Nelson Spruce was named one of 10 semifinalists for the Biletnikoff Award, which is presented to the nation’s most outstanding receiver; three finalists will be announced on Monday (Nov. 24) ... Both schools had a bye last Saturday; CU lost 38-20 at Arizona last time out (after leading much of the first half), while Oregon won at Utah, 51-27 ... Colorado has 54 passes broken up through 10 games, which is tied for fifth-most in the nation. Mississippi State tops the list with 60, followed by Southern California, Utah State and Virginia, all with 56; Western Michigan has 54 along with CU, with Louisiana State (53), Maryland (51), BYU 950) and Oregon (48) rounding out the top 10. OBSCURE NOTE(S) OF THE WEEK A program first and with two games yet remaining: Colorado has 4,611 yards of total offense, already the 10th most yards in a single season in its history (within 837 of the record 5,448 in 1994). In amassing those yards, this is the first time in their history that the Buffaloes have four 300-plus yard rushers and receivers on the same team. All four running backs have gained between 322 and 398 yards (since the end of the platoon era – 1964 being the last season – CU’s rushing leader has had under 500 yards just twice: Lance Olander (440 in 1979) and Lee Rouson (494 in 1983). Olander’s 88 attempts are the fewest of the last 50 leaders (next low is 117, twice); the quartet this year are all between 65 and 81 carries. QB Sefo Liufau scored the first touchdown of his career at Arizona, but not on rush; he caught a 7-yard TD pass from WR Nelson Spruce. It was the fifth receiving TD by a CU quarterback in its history – ironically the first one, a 73-yard pass from TB Billy Waddy to QB David Williams (73 yards versus Iowa State in Ames, Oct. 13, 1973) was also the first score in Williams’ career. The nation’s oldest All-America squad was announced this evening on The Home Depot ESPN College Football Awards Show. Third-ranked Florida State had three players selected to the First Team, while top-ranked Alabama, Oregon and Utah all had two honorees. In all, 20 different schools from six conferences were represented on the All-America First Team. The Atlantic Coast Conference, Pac 12, and Southeastern Conference each had six selections. The Walter Camp All-America teams are selected by the head coaches and sports information directors of the 125 Football Bowl Subdivision schools and certified by Marcum LLP, a New Haven- based accounting firm.     La Salle College High School Football: Chronicle 2011 Game 1, September 3, 2011: La Salle 44 – North Penn 27 by Kev Hunter, The Reporter North Penn stumbles in loss to La Salle North Penn had two double-digit leads Saturday night against La Salle College High School, but the Knights could not hold on, falling 44-27 at Plymouth-Whitemarsh. The Knights had a 21-10 lead at halftime and a 27-16 lead in the third quarter, but La Salle dominated the fourth. Wide receiver Colin Buckley caught four touchdown passes from Matt Magarity, all in the second half, to make the difference for La Salle in this rematch of last year’s Eastern Final. La Salle has now defeated North Penn three times in the past two seasons. Kyle Mayfield had a 71-yard touchdown run for the Knights and also a 75-yard run to set up another score, but the North Penn secondary could not cover Buckley. His 1-yard touchdown reception put La Salle ahead for good 30-27 in the fourth, and his nine-yarder extended the margin to 37-27. Four fumbles proved costly for the Knights, including the last one, which set up Tim Wade’s clinching five-yard touchdown run for La Salle. North Penn also lost to La Salle to end last season in the state semifinals by a score of 38-35.
