LENTEN GIVING Lent Appeal This year we are supporting two worthwhile causes: Jeel al-Amal Boys Home, in Bethany, offers a home to orphans and children from difficult domestic circumstances. In our own city, ‘Transforming Lives for Good’ (TLG) and Bristol Schools Connection, provide assistance for mentoring troubled youngsters, particularly those affected by lockdown, home schooling and lack of access to digital resources. Bristol Churches Winter Night Shelter (BCWNS) This year Night Shelter guests are staying in a B&B with volunteers providing meals for them. The initiative is halfway through, and thank you for any donations made so far. Although the overhead costs of the project have already been met, usually our Social Committee would cover the cost of food in the weeks that the Cathedral volunteers are cooking. As there has been no opportunity to raise funds this year, perhaps you might like to contribute what you might have donated through Lent lunches, or other social gatherings? Please mark monetary donations “night shelter” and send them to the Cathedral care of Chrissie Graham: [email protected], by post to the Cathedral Gatehouse, College Green, Bristol, BS1 5TJ, or by bank transfer: Bank details: Sort Code: 56-00-05, Account Number: 00011355 Bank: Natwest, Reference ‘Night Shelter’.
