The conclusion of it - Hebrews 7:26-28 Getting Started 1. Ability is something we value. Name a writer, television personality, sports 4. When have you been able to rely on someone without needing anything figure, or politician who is known for their ability or abilities. What are those except their word? What did that tell you about that person? What did it tell abilities? How do those abilities set them apart or above others? you about the power of a true promise or oath? Digging Deeper 1. Promises are made every day. When have you seen a person/company make a promise and then, when it came time to deliver, the person/company couldn’t make good on their promise? They simply weren’t able. Bringing it Home 1. Knowing that Jesus is able to do something wonderful in our life (salvation or continued spiritual maturity) and actively relying on it are two different things. What are some of the head and heart barricades that stop us at only believing and not actively relying on Jesus? 2. This week we heard that “The Levitical priesthood could not accomplish what was necessary for salvation and spiritual maturity.” What are some ways we rely on laws or rules for safety, security, and even deliverance? Think about insurance, retirement, contracts, loans. How do we place our hope in them? How do we rely on religious or spiritual rules in a similar fashion? 2. In what area of your life do you know that Jesus is able to help you, yet you are not actively relying on Jesus in this particular area of your life? What is the barricade that is keeping you from allowing Jesus’ ability to be enough to heal, help, or move you forward? What can you do today to move closer to Jesus and rely more on Him? 3. Look back in the sermon notes at the bullet point list of all that God is able to do for us (see “3. The consolation of it”). From the statements and scripture passages, reflect on where God has shown Himself able to help, guide, enrich, and save you. Go around the room and share how God has shown Himself able. .
