The aim: to create 250 sustainable new jobs for unemployed people.

The Berkeley Foundation is working in partnership with local employment agencies and charities to identify suitable candidates.

Candidates are being placed across the Berkeley portfolio of approximately 55 live construction projects, in our offices, and with suppliers, contractors and consultants.

The roles range from on-site apprenticeships, to assistant site managers, to customer service, sales and finance.

The Berkeley Foundation is also providing a £10,000 subsidy to help the charities it supports to create a new role for somebody who is unemployed.

In 2014, the Berkeley Group supported 21,000 jobs sustaining a total of 5.6 jobs for each home that we built. 60 SPECIAL PROJECTS

Beyond the benefit of building more homes and facilities for the community, Berkeley also contributes through other projects. These have ranged from creating a new country park in Hampshire, to Waitrose supermarkets, gastro pubs, and railway stations. At the Royal Arsenal Riverside in Woolwich, we have been responsible for construction of the Crossrail station box. In Barns Green, Berkeley has built a bright, modern new building for Itchingfield Primary school. It’s large enough for 150 students, with generous classrooms and play spaces offering a stimulating environment for the children.

Berkeley committed £300 million through Section 106 agreements between 2009 and 2014 to pay for a wide range of facilities and services in the community. 62 FOR FURTHER INFORMATION ON THE BERKELEY GROUP OR OUR ACTIVITIES
