A season-high crowd of 6,377 cheers the team on. Milestone December 7, 2006 Lazarus Sims records Rochester’s only triple-double (12 points-11 rebounds-14 assists) during a 115-100 win over Detroit at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. Milestone March 2007 Just before the playoffs, the RazorSharks withdraw from the American Basketball Association. Milestone January 4, 2008 The RazorSharks begin play in the Premier Basketball League, with a 101-83 victory at Jacksonville. Milestone January 24, 2008 The RazorSharks retire their first jersey, number 3, in honor of guard Lazarus Sims. Milestone March 30, 2008 The RazorSharks go undefeated at home for the second-straight year and crush Arkansas, 142-112, to win the first-ever PBL Championship. The ‘Sharks Sammy Monroe breaks the backboard following up on a shot- delaying the action. A still-standing record of 9,717 fans attend at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial. Milestone March 30, 2008 G Demond Stewart finishes his RazorSharks carrer playing all 85 games- going back to the franchise’s start in 2005. Milestone January 13, 2009 At the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial, Vermont shocks the ‘Sharks 113-110, ending Rochester’s home winning streak at 48 games. The streak lasted 3 years 1 month and 3 days beginning with a 126-96 victory over Maryland, December 10, 2005. Milestone March 28, 2009 The ‘Sharks score 101 points in the first half on the way to an eighty-point blowout over Chicago, 176-96, at Rochester. The 176 points scored is the most ever by a professional basketball team in the city. (The CBA Rochester Zeniths beat Scranton, 172-138 in 1981) Milestone April 19, 2009 The RaziorSharks successfully defend their PBL Championship, in Rochester, with a 152-115 rout of Battle Creek.     Rochester, NY Submission to the Downtown Revitalization Initiative 6/10/2016 Executive Summary The revitalization of downtown Rochester must engage and retain young adults as residents who want to live and work in cities. A recent Urban Land Institute and National League of Cities supported a study of downtown Rochester, NY identified an immediate need to re-activate the Genesee Riverfront and Main Street to target diverse young adults and bring vibrancy to the fronts of downtown buildings. Critical to re-activating Rochester’s downtown is giving the job to rebuild it to the people who need the work the most. Thanks to the efforts of the Governor’s Rochester Anti-Poverty Task Force and the local Rochester Monroe Anti-Poverty Initiative (RMAPI), the anti-poverty program pilot area is adjacent to Rochester’s downtown district. The program will provide employment supports (e.g. daycare and transportation) to stabilize families and connect them to Rochester’s downtown success. Rochester’s downtown district, the Center City District (CCD), is experiencing dramatic residential growth. Developers partnered with government to create new living spaces within iconic buildings. Despite the 1.7 million people visiting the district annually and record investment in downtown growing high tech firms, retail and walkable amenities do not support 18 hours of activity. Foot traffic by young adults connecting downtown living and work will bridge the gap between living and work that exists in downtown Rochester, NY. Young adults are drawn to an iconic city and will create the demand for first floor retail that will give jobs and stabilize neighborhoods.

    PRO FOOTBALL HALL OF FAME TEACHER ACTIVITY GUIDE 2019-2020 EDITIOn WASHInGTOn REDSKInS Team History With three Super Bowl championships, the Washington Redskins are one of the NFL’s most dominant teams of the past quarter century. But the organization’s glorious past dates back almost 60 years and includes five world championships overall and some of the most innovative people and ideas the game has ever known. From George Preston Marshall to Jack Kent Cooke, from Vince Lombardi to Joe Gibbs, from Sammy Baugh to John Riggins, plus the NFL’s first fight song, marching band and radio network, the Redskins can be proud of an impressive professional football legacy. George Preston Marshall was awarded the inactive Boston franchise in July 1932. He originally named the team “Braves” because it used Braves Field, home of the National League baseball team. When the team moved to Fenway Park in July 1933, the name was changed to Redskins. A bizarre situation occurred in 1936, when the Redskins won the NFL Eastern division championship but Marshall, unhappy with the fan support in Boston,moved the championship game against Green Bay to the Polo Grounds in New York. Their home field advantage taken away by their owner, the Redskins lost. Not surprisingly, the Redskins moved to Washington, D.C., for the 1937 season. Games were played in Griffith Stadium with the opener on September 16, 1937, being played under flood lights. That year,Marshall created an official marching band and fight song, both firsts in the National Football League. That season also saw the debut of “Slinging Sammy” Baugh, a quarterback from Texas Christian who literally changed the offensive posture of pro football with his forward passing in his 16-season career.

This acutely affects quality of life for city residents and also presents a horrible image to people who live outside the city who we depend on to patronize our businesses. This should be top priority for City Hall. In order to discourage this behavior, the punishment should be drug/alcohol rehabilitation and/or mental health 3 counseling. It is far more important to put those resources into areas that would benefit from it. Police’s role in our communities is too broad and should be narrowed down. Furthermore The police agencies within Monroe County should all reexamine the hiring standards for police officers (Bachelor’s degree at minimum). Modern policing develops a culture of rewarding silence. There needs to be a negotiation with the police unions to not only prevent officers from being rehired, but also come up with a form of licensure for officers so that if they violate the terms of their duty then they have their license revoked.

    The Ensley Athletic Center is the latest major facilities addition to the Lampe Athletics Complex. The $13 million building was constructed in seven months and opened in January 2015. It serves as an indoor training center for the football program, as well as other sports. A multi- million dollar gift from Cliff Ensley, a walk-on who earned a football scholarship and became a three-sport standout at Syracuse in the late 1960s, combined with major gifts from Dick and Jean Thompson, made the construction of the 87,000 square-foot practice facility possible.
