But it’s not at the same rate We Should Know . . . that they are providing our teachers and administrators pay raises. My wife is a teacher. I was a teacher, so I’m all for teachers and administrators getting raises. But it puts a burden on the county and the city school systems to come up with additional revenues to help pay for these things locally.”
Johnson explains, “When you have local positions that are being funded – for instance in the city schools we have 14 teachers that are funded locally – that puts more burden on the local tax payers to come up with those dollars to support those positions as raises occur. So, finding opportunities to go out to partners – potentially I guess I would say they are equal partners in the county and the city – because the county does have a larger area to pull from and the city pulls from our small-town commitment.”
“There’s also a lot of commitment from our local businesses here also to the county,” says Johnson “because they may have employees that their kids go to the school system in the county and they drive to Clinton every day. So, I would say there is probably equal opportunity for revenue but generating revenue and generating revenue consistently year after year is what I’m finding to be the biggest challenge here in the city.”

As my life moves closer to His coming kingdom, I yearn to leave this legacy: “May The Song Of My Life Be the Melody Of My Savior’s Love.” Occasionally Gene and I enjoy hosting a ‘Singin’ Thing’ in our home. The invitation is quite simple: “Just be here at 6:00, bring whatever you want to eat for supper, any special songs you want to sing, and a good time will be had by all.” It is so much fun! You should try it sometime. Just provide sweet tea, chairs, and a piano, and I promise you that the evening will become a cherished memory. (Oh, if you do, be sure you invite me.) For those events, we always place a crudely made sign in the sitting area that proclaims: “A heart in tune with God can’t help but SING HIS PRAISE!” It Works!

Know before youEnroll
Medicare Open Enrollment for 2019 runs through December 7th. This is the time when many beneficiaries review their current Medicare plan coverage and explore options for the upcoming year. We understand the options are many, and the answers are few. While we do not endorse any products or plans, our Patient Financial Services Department does offer these tips:
There is a difference between a Medicare plan with a supplemen- tal and a Medicare Advantage plan. Medicare Advantage plans 1 are paid by Medicare to cover the beneficiaries who choose their plans. They may have different rules, such as requiring pre-approval (authorizations) for services that traditional Medicare automatically covers. They may also have higher copayments or deductibles than Medicare, especially if you are out of network for services. Plan designs may be different, so we caution you to ask. Always read the details!
The plans can and do change from year to year. For example, vision coverage may be included in your plan this year but 2 removed next year. A benefit, such as skilled nursing, may also change, say from 30 days this year to 10 next year. Deductibles and coinsurance are subject to change as well. Again, be careful as you select your plan, and read the details.
Know if your providers are contracted with your insurer. Not every physician, hospital, or service provider is contracted with 3 every insurer. Sampson Regional Medical Center, for example, currently has one signed Medicare Advantage contract. We do not believe it’s right for an insurance company to sell a product in a county where the hospital is not contracted. It puts the hospital in a position to bill the beneficiary for services provided or deny non-emergency services for Medicare Advantage beneficiaries.
Sampson Regional Medical Center currently has a signed Medicare Advantage plan with Blue Medicare and Aetna. We cannot contract with insurance companies that offer to pay less than what traditional Medicare will pay. As such, we are not likely to agree in terms with United Healthcare (which is different than the AARP supplemental insurance plan) for their Medicare Advantage plan. We are in active discussions with Gateway for their Medicare Advantage plan but cannot guarantee at this point we will agree in terms by end of open enrollment. We currently do not have any contracts with Humana, nor Accepting New Patients are we in discussion with them.
We advise you to please be careful in making changes. The rules are different between Medicare Advantage plans and traditional Medicare. My introduction to sociology course is a better one now after going through the credentialing process, which facilitated in my making several necessary and important changes. Quality Matters has developed a widely respected set of standards for the design of effective online courses and a rigorous, faculty peer review process for applying these standards to existing courses. Through this process, reviewers provide instruc- tors and instructional design teams with insight and recommendations that increase learner engagement, retention and satisfaction, and, ultimately, learner achievement.
Dr. Stevens, Division Chair of Health Programs at SCC, agrees that while rewarding, the process was not easy. “It was a challenge, but it was definitely worth it,” she said. “The course reviewed in my area was an accelerated nine-hour course; one of a few of its kind offered across the state. This mind-bending puzzle will have you hooked from the moment you square off, so sharpen your pencil and put your sudoku savvy to the test.
Here’s How It Works: Sudoku puzzles are formatted as a 9x9 grid, broken down into nine 3x3 boxes. To solve a sudo- ku, the numbers 1 through 9 must fill each row, col- umn and box. Each number can appear only once in each row, column and box. You can fig- ure out the order in which the numbers will appear by using the numeric clues already provided in the boxes. The more numbers you name, the easier it gets to solve the puzzle! 16 www.thesampsonweekly.com Week of November 30-December 6, 2018 CRIME DWLR Not Impaired Rev; Court Date 01-07 Arrest Reports Brandy Court, Benson; Order for Arrest/Failure to Court Date 12-11 11-21 Jail Gainey Williams, 45; 781 Five Appear- Improper Equip-Speedometer; Order for 11-22 George Gonzales Colon, 48; 181 Ruby Bridge Rd., Clinton; Communicating Arrest/Failure to Appear- DWLR Not Impaired 11-29 Neil Anthony Young, 43; 701 Old Lane, Clinton; Drive/Allow Motor Vehicle No Threats; Simple Assault; Bond $6,500; Rev; Order for Arrest/Failure to Appear- Speed- US 701 Hwy., Clinton; Possession of Fire- Registration; Operate Vehicle No Insurance; Court Date 11-28 ing; Bond $500; Court Date 12-17 arm by Felon; Court Date 01-17 Fictitious/Altered Title/Registration Card/Tag; Give/Lend/Borrow License Plate; No Opera- 11-21 Demetrius Antoin Eason, 19; 3861 11-26 Jimmy Darrell Hall, 33; 7460 Autry Hwy., Incident/Investigation Reports tors License; Bond $1,500; Court Date 12-14 Old Mintz Hwy., Roseboro; Possession of Autryville; 2 Count: Assault on a Female; Assault 11-21 Bevy Tew reported a Burglary lo- Firearm by Felon; Bond $7,500; Court Date with a Deadly Weapon; Misdemeanor Larceny; cated at 2888 Charles Newland Rd., Dunn. 11-23 Sandy Dawn Naylor, 50; 1653 Bear Skin 11-30 Second Degree Trespass; Court Date 12-18 Items reported missing included an assort- Rd., Salemburg; Communicating Threats; Sim- ment of firearms. ple Assault; Bond $1,500; Court Date 12-17 11-21 Tabitha Matthews Hemmelgarn, 41; 11-26 Kevin Javon Robinson, 44; 1 Creekstone 1791 Needmore Rd., Turkey; Possession of Lane, Castle Hayne; Possession of Drug Parapher- 11-21 Ross Peterson reported Damage to 11-23 Joshua Adam Pope, 33; 215 Jackson Schedule II; Maintain Vehicle for Controlled nalia; Possession of Heroin; Bond $3,000; Court his Property located at 1705 West Mount Trail, Dunn; Second Degree Trespass; Fail to Substance; Bond $10,000; Court Date 12-07 Date 12-14 Gilead Church Rd., Clinton.
