Recorded May 2007 at Centre in the Square in Kitchener, Ontario, this sizzling concert is shot in high definition with multiple cameras, wrapped around a fast-paced show with first class production values that include great sound, choreography, dramatic lighting, set design and costumes. Executive Producer Barry Avrich (The Last Mogul) has created a high-energy musical experience translated onto the big screen, capturing the live performance of the total string experience. Formed in June 2000, BOWFIRE made its debut performance the following month at the 2000 World Exposition in Hannover, Germany. Audience response was wildly enthusiastic, and the group was subsequently invited to perform on the Governor General’s Award telecast. This diverse music ensemble has been blazing international sold out venues ever since. The film takes its audiences on a musical journey that moves seamlessly from jazz, classical, bluegrass, Celtic, rock, gypsy, world to Texas Swing, Ottawa Valley, Cape Breton styles and then combines incredible step, tap dancing and a beautiful voice. The BOWFIRE company is composed of leading Canadian string virtuosos who are at the forefront of their respective styles: Lenny Solomon - George Gao - Jon Pilatzke - Bogdan Djukic - Raymond Legere - Shane Cook - Kelli Trottier – Yi-Jia Susanne Hou - Stéphane Allard - Stephanie Cadman combined with equally gifted and respected ensemble musicians: Bill Bridges, guitars - Bernie Senensky, piano & synthesizer - Lew Mele, acoustic & electric bass - Wendy 3 Solomon, acoustic & electric cello - Benjamin Riley, drums & percussion.
