Included inthe script are narrations for use with a total of 338 slides illustrating 150 different plants. Generally, two slidesare used to illustrate each plant: one slide shows the growth habit of the plant, and the other is a close-up of the plant's flower or foliage. Plantsare grouped by flowering period and treated alphabetically in eachgroup by scientific name. At the end of the scriptare two indexes: one for each plant's scientific name and the other fcr itscommon name(s). The introduction to the script also includes suggestions for itsuse and recommended additional learning activities. FOREWORD A major objective of Herbaceous Ornamental Plants, slide set and script, is to aid in the studyand identification of commercially important herbaceousornamentals. For the most part, the herbaceous plants covered in this slide set are perennials. Those involved in selling herbaceous ornamentals should be able to identify the plants, helpcustomers select plants for specific situations, and providecultural tips as well. Those whogrow or maintain herbaceous plants must also be able to identifythe plant and the cultural requirementsof each. Herbaceous Ornamental Plants containsslides of 150 different plants. Generally two slides to illustrate each perennial. One slide are used shows the habit of the plant; the other isa close-up of the flower, or foliage. This holiday, as for every Honeyguide holiday, also puts something into conservation in our host country by way of a contribution to the wildlife that we enjoyed, in this case for La Sociedad Española de Ornitología (SEO), the Spanish Ornithological Society, and its work in Aragón. The conservation contribution this year of £40 per person was supplemented by gift aid through the Honeyguide Wildlife Charitable Trust, leading to a total of £440 This donation brings the total given to SEO since the first Honeyguide holiday in Spain in 1991 to £16,745 (through all Honeyguide holidays, mostly the Spanish Pyrenees and Extremadura). As at July 2016, the total for all conservation contributions through Honeyguide since 1991 was £108,716. 2 DAILY DIARY Wednesday 15 June: The way there… What should have been a simple journey, Stansted to Biarritz then minibus to Berdún, had by 8pm turned out rather differently. A consensus classification is pro- posed here, based on recent molecular phylogenetic studies, morphological and cytogenetic variation, and accounting for secondary criteria of classification, such as nomenclatural stability. Using the latest sutribal classification of Hippeastreae (Hippeastrinae and Traubiinae) as a foundation, we propose the recognition of six genera, namely Eremolirion gen. nov., Hippeastrum, Phycella s.l., Rhodolirium s.str., Traubia, and Zephyranthes s.l. Accepted: 25.02.2019 The genus Aubrieta Adans. includes 12-24 species naturally distributed in South-West Asia (mainly in Anatolia) and in South and Southeast Europe. Most of these species grow in mountain, subalpine and alpine altitudinal belts. The most common is A. deltoidea (L.) DC. It has long been known as a garden ornamental plant in Western Europe and in other countries. During the last 10-15 years, plants of this species began to be cultivated in Ukraine and in Eastern Europe. For the genus and for A. deltoidea, the nomenclature, basic synonymy, complete morphological description, ecological affinity, range, and also features of distribution in Ukraine and in Eastern Europe are given at the first time. Based on the analysis and generalization of ecological and biological specificity, features of plant distribution and cultivation, it was suggested that in the climatic conditions of Ukraine A. deltoidea plants may run wild and form spontaneous populations.
