Et bien on va fichtrement bien. Content.e.s d’avoir repris bien sûr, de retrouver le goût du cinéma, de revoir les plus assidu.e.s et leurs envies qui nous donnent encore plus envie de donner envie. Désormais choisissez d’aller en salle 5 du St-Ex peu importe le film. La joie également de reprendre ce programme qui nous coûte mais reste une véritable ouverture sur le monde avec les quelques balises que sont les cinéastes aux noms de famille qui font rêver. Parce que c’est quand même un mystère les noms des réalisateur.rice.s. Plus il.elle.s sont bon.ne.s, plus leurs noms (sans parler de leur concordance au prénom) claquent comme des feux d’artifices. Prononcez comme Antoine Doisnel devant son miroir : Chloé Zhao, Leos Carax, Miguel Gomes, Ousmane Sembene, Naomi Kawase, Abbas Kiaros- tami, Mia Hansen-Løve, Mikio Naruse, Roberto Rosselini, Hafsia Herzi, Mau- rice Pialat (moins classe ce dernier, mais de toute manière, il ne peut jamais faire comme les autres)… rien que pour ce numéro d’été. A contrario, je m’ap- pelle Libs, travaille avec des Tournois, Schwartz, Harter, Tabaraud, Picard (et d’autres noms de cet ordre là) ; on savait depuis tout bébé qu’avec des noms pareils on n’avait aucune chance de devenir cinéaste, au mieux exploitant de salles. Car c’est clairement notre nom de naissance qui nous désigne cinéaste; Francis Ford Coppola avec son prénom/nom de dingue (dans ce cas ultime, on ne sait d’ailleurs plus vraiment où est le nom et le prénom), n’a pas eu d’autre choix que de faire des chefs-d'œuvre (le pauvre). Comme vous le constatez nous allons bien et il ne nous manque au fond qu’une chose : un surplus de curiosité de votre part sur certains films magnifiques mais moins faciles à vendre. Des films qui donnent du sens à la diversité de ce que nous vous proposons, des films qui sortent un peu des calibres pour propo- ser des regards singuliers qui résistent à la banalisation/ mondialisation des choses. Des films beaux qui grâce à vos regards peuvent devenir de beaux films. Et comme nous sommes relativement fidèles en profondeurs. amour, ça risque de durer quelques années encore tant la cinéaste, à chaque nouvel opus, nous épate. Et si son cinéma reste à hauteur d’humain, on ne peut que constater qu’il continue d’expérimenter et de gagner en matière. Ce n'est ainsi pas un hasard que de retrouver cette année, Bergman Island en compétition officielle à Cannes. Pas besoin d’être connaisseur.euse.s d’Ingmar Bergman pour rentrer dans le film. Mais d’avoir vu Scènes de la vie conjugales, Sonate d’automne et Monika (les trois films les plus présents dans Bergman Island) est une chance. Nous sommes donc bien ici dans la variation intime des sentiments, dans les petits dérèglements qui entraineront les grandes ruptures/ réconciliations… Mais ce qui est redoutable dans le film (et une immense source de plaisir) est que la narration est d’une audace folle. Sans rien révé- ler, nous nous transposons sur trois niveaux de narration : le présent avec ce couple en train de découvrir un territoire d’inspirations, l’histoire telle que rédigée par la femme du couple et le résultat (le film) de tout ça. N’ayez pas peur, tout coule ici de source et donne une dimension supplémentaire, magnifiée, aux rapports entre les différents person- nages. Bergman Island est ainsi un miracle de simplicité et de fluidité, sur une île où l’on aime se balader en parfait.e inconnu·e, en rapporteur·euse inspiré·e ou en voleur·euse de (grands) sentiments. When a crew of foreign workers is massacred by an Islamic fundamentalist group, fear sweeps though the region. The army offers them protection, but the monks refuse. Should they leave? Despite the growing menace in their midst, they slowly realize that they have no choice but to stay… come what may. This film is loosely based on the life of the Cistercian monks of Tibhirine in Algeria, from 1993 until their kidnapping in 1996. PREAMBLE In 1996 the kidnapping and murder of the seven French monks of Tibhirine was one of the culminating points of the violence and atrocities in Algeria resulting from the confrontation between the government and extremist terrorist groups that wanted to overthrow it. The disappearance of the monks – caught in a vice between both sides- had a great and long-lasting effect on the governments, religious communities and international public opinion. The identity of the murderers and the exact circumstances of the monks‟ deaths remain a mystery to this day.

    MEMBRES DU BLOC – BUREAU DE LIAISON DES ORGANISATIONS DU CINEMA 2008 : UNE SITUATION PREOCCUPANTE POUR LA DISTRIBUTION INDEPENDANTE ETAT DES LIEUX Prenant acte qu’ils font face aux mêmes difficultés liées à l’évolution des conditions de diffusion des films, et qu’ils tendent vers les mêmes objectifs, Le SDI (Syndicat des Distributeurs Indépendants) et DIRE (Distributeurs Indépendants Réunis Européens) ont décidé de mettre en commun leurs réflexions et de proposer aux Pouvoirs Publics les réformes qui permettront aux distributeurs indépendants de continuer à défendre une certaine idée du cinéma : celle de la diversité de l’offre de films et de l’accès des spectateurs au plus grand nombre de cinématographies du monde. Rappel : Le poids des distributeurs indépendants Dans le secteur cinématographique, la fonction de « recherche et développement » n’est pas intégrée aux groupes qui dominent le marché . Les risques inhérents à cette démarche sont exclusivement assumés par les distributeurs indépendants , sans que les coûts puissent en être amortis sur les recettes des films à réel potentiel commercial, dont bon nombre ne pourraient pourtant pas exister sans ce travail de découverte.     EUROPEAN COMMISSION - PRESS RELEASE MEDIA and 'Creative Europe' in the spotlight at 65th Cannes Film Festival Brussels, 16 May 2012 - Eighteen films supported by the European Commission's MEDIA programme are in the Cannes Film Festival's 'Official Selection' this year, of which seven are in competition for the Palme d’Or, notably "Amour" by Michael Haneke, "The Angel's Share" by Ken Loach and "Jagten" (The Hunt) by Thomas Vinterberg (full list in annex). During the Festival, Androulla Vassiliou, the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, will award the first 'Prix MEDIA' to Iranian film-maker Asghar Farhadi and will also discuss the Commission's proposed new 'Creative Europe' programme, which includes MEDIA, with film directors and professionals. The new programme, which focuses on the cultural and creative sectors, has received strong support from EU Culture and Audiovisual Ministers. "I am delighted that, once again, European films are out in force in Cannes. This is the best reward for our efforts and shows that Europe can, by means of targeted investment, bring considerable added value to the audiovisual and culture sectors," said Commissioner Vassiliou. "Our future 'Creative Europe' programme will help the European film industry to meet the challenges of digitisation and globalisation and will continue to safeguard and promote Europe's cultural and linguistic diversity. I am delighted that professional associations in the cinema sector, including renowned directors and actors, have given their support to our future programme."
