Exciting News, UCT Members!
Save the Date!
For the first time ever, the University Club of Toronto will be hosting the locally organized TEDx event, TEDxTheAnnexWomen on May 28th, 2015!
As members you will gain first access to all things TEDxTheAnnexWomen!
TED is a nonprofit organization devoted to Ideas Worth Spreading, and started as a conference in California 26 years ago. Some of the notable speakers have included Roger Ebert, Sheryl Sandberg, Bill Gates, Eliza- beth Gilbert, Benoit Mandelbrot, and many more. TED has since grown to support those world-changing ideas with many initiatives. We are now bringing the world class TED experience to you!
This independently organized TEDx conference is devoted to bringing forth innovative female voices from our community to explore the theme ‘Momentum’. Hosted by City- TV’s Tammie Sutherland, this is a unique opportunity to discover, share and learn about local initiatives driving momentum in Toronto. On a larger scale, this event will contribute to the global TEDWomen conference taking place May 27-29, 2015. We will provide up- dates on the speaker lineup for TEDxTheAnnexWomen over the next few months.
In the meantime, we are very excited to be involved in this event; if you are looking to participate, speak, volunteer or sponsor, please visit http://tedxtheannexwomen.com/ for more details.
Please join the conversation on Twitter: @TEDxTAW and find us on Facebook: TEDxTheAnnexWomen and Instagram: TEDxTAW

Peter O'Brian
Tuesday, March 24, 2015 7:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. $45 +HST
On February 7, the Globe and Mail published Peter O'Brian's story about how he had been sexually assaulted as a school boy. It took him 50 years to breathe a word about it to anyone beyond his wife, Carolyn Bennett, MD, MP. Peter is not one of society's natural victims: he's the Chair of TVO, the winner of a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Direc- tors Guild of Canada, and was the inaugural Executive Director of the Canadian Film Centre. But even he (especially he) has carried his terrible secret about something that still victimizes so many people -- precisely because no one wants to talk about it.
