Milen Penerliev 1 Alternative tourism is a form of tourism which represents an alternative to the conventional mass tourism. Its forms are small-scale, low-density, divided into forms practiced in urban (religious, cultural, business) and rural areas. Alternative tourism is an attempt to preserve, protect and improve the quality of the existing resource base, which is fundamental for tourism itself. Alternative tourism is featured by active encouragement and care for the development of additional andspecific attractions as well the infrastructure, which are based on the local resources, while at the same time aiding the latter. It has an impact on the quality of life in the region, improves the infrastructure and increases the educational and cultural level of the local community.

Annex REPORT FOR 2019 UNDER THE “HEALTH CARE” PRIORITY of the NATIONAL ROMA INTEGRATION STRATEGY OF THE REPUBLIC OF BULGARIA 2012 - 2020 Operational objective: A national monitoring progress report has been prepared for implementation of Measure 1.1.2. “Performing obstetric and gynaecological examinations with mobile offices in settlements with compact Roma population”. During the period 01.07—20.11.2019, a total of 2,261 prophylactic medical examinations were carried out with the four mobile gynaecological offices to uninsured persons of Roma origin and to persons with difficult access to medical facilities, as 951 women were diagnosed with diseases. The implementation of the activity for each Regional Health Inspectorate is in accordance with an order of the Minister of Health to carry out not less than 500 examinations with each mobile gynaecological office. Financial resources of BGN 12,500 were allocated for each mobile unit, totalling BGN 50,000 for the four units. During the reporting period, the mobile gynecological offices were divided into four areas: Varna (the city of Varna, the village of Kamenar, the town of Ignatievo, the village of Staro Oryahovo, the village of Sindel, the village of Dubravino, the town of Provadia, the town of Devnya, the town of Suvorovo, the village of Chernevo, the town of Valchi Dol); Silistra (Tutrakan Municipality– the town of Tutrakan, the village of Tsar Samuel, the village of Nova Cherna, the village of Staro Selo, the village of Belitsa, the village of Preslavtsi, the village of Tarnovtsi,

All previously known Bulgarian slugs from the Arionidae, Milacidae, Limacidae and Agriolimacidae families have been discussed in this paper. It is based on many years of individual field research, examination of all accessible private and museum collections as well as on critical analysis of the published data. The taxa from families to species are sup plied with synonymy, descriptions of external morphology, anatomy, bionomics, distribution and all records from Bulgaria. It also includes the original key to all species. The illustrative material comprises 118 drawings, including 116 made by the author, and maps of localities on UTM grid. The occurrence of 37 slug species was ascertained, including 1 species (Tandonia pirinia- na) which is quite new for scientists. The occurrence of other 4 species known from publications could not bo established. Basing on the variety of slug fauna two zoogeographical limits were indicated. One separating the Stara Pianina Mountains from south-western massifs (Pirin, Rila, Rodopi, Vitosha. Mountains), the other running across the range of Stara Pianina in the^area of Shipka pass. INTRODUCTION Like other Balkan countries, Bulgaria is an area of Palearctic especially interesting in respect to malacofauna. So far little investigation has been carried out on molluscs of that country and very few papers on slugs (mostly contributions) were published. The papers by B a b o r (1898) and J u r in ić (1906) are the oldest ones.

  • Assessment of Contamination with Opportunistic Pathogenic Bacteria from Family Enterobacteriaceae in Sediments of Iskar River
Supplement 1 Ecological Engineering and Environment Protection, IX, 2017, p. 47-55 ASSESSMENT OF CONTAMINATION WITH OPPORTUNISTIC PATHOGENIC BACTERIA FROM FAMILY ENTEROBACTERIACEAE IN SEDIMENTS OF ISKAR RIVER Ivaylo Yotinov, Yovana Todorova, Lyubomir Kenderov, Yana Topalova Abstract: Fecal pollution from municipal wastewater discharges is an extremely serious problem for aquatic ecosystems. This type of pollution is also found in the waters and sediments of the Iskar River in its upper and middle valley. From a microbiological point of view, an indicator of such contamination is the presence of high amounts of opportunistic pathogenic microorganisms of the family Enterobacteriaceae. An important feature is that, except in the waters where they are normally found, large amounts of these bacteria can also accumulate in sediments. The purpose of this study is to compare the contamination with opportunistic pathogenic bacteria from the Enterobacteriaceae in sediments from the upper and middle part of the Iskar River. In addition, a comparison of the quantity of entero-bacteria with the ecological state indicators was made by Regulation N-4 of 14.09.2012 on characterization of surface water. From the results of this study, the higher amounts of entero-bacteria were found in the sediments from the middle part of the Iskar River. This is largely related to the strongly negative effect of the urbanized area of Sofia as well as the lack of functioning wastewater treatment plants in the middle of the Iskar River. The results for entero- bacteria from the Upper Iskar subcatchment, also demonstrated a significant contamination with fecal character. As a probable reason for this can be the discharge of Samokov WWTP as well as the unregulated point sources of pollution in this region.

  • Application of Aerospace Methods for Monitoring of Forest Fires and Evaluation of Burned Area in Haskovo Region in the Summer of 2011
Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Space Research and Technology Institute. Aerospace Research in Bulgaria. 25, 2013, Sofia APPLICATION OF AEROSPACE METHODS FOR MONITORING OF FOREST FIRES AND EVALUATION OF BURNED AREA IN HASKOVO REGION IN THE SUMMER OF 2011 Maria Dimitrova, Iva Ivanova, Mariana Zaharinova, Roumen Nedkov Space Research and Technology Institute – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences e-mail: [email protected] Abstract The most significant forest and field fires in Haskovo region in the summer of 2011 are looked through. Information about physico-geographic characteristics of the area, land cover, etc. are gathered and analyzed in GIS. Тhe location and the area affected by the largest fire are being determined based on sattelite data. An analysis of the affected area is done. Introduction Haskovo region is situated in the East part of South Bulgaria. It has an area of 5534 km2 that is 5% of the country area. In the region there are 261 urban places, arranged in 11 municipalities - Haskovo, Dimitrovgrad, Svilengrad, Lyubimets, Harmanli, Madzharovo, Simeonovgrad, Ivaylovgrad Topolovgrad, Mineral Baths and Stambolovo. The municipality borders are: the districts of Plovdiv, Stara Zagora, Yambol, Kardzhali. In the South-East region it borders with Greece and Turkey. The region is crossed by the railway line Sofia - Istanbul and the highway “Trakia”. The territory of Haskovo region covers the southwestern ridges of the Sakar Mountain and the northern parts of the Eastern Rhodopes. Though the region flow the rivers Maritsa, Arda and Sazliyka. There are hot springs and balneological resorts in the area of Haskovski Mineral Baths and Merichleri, in Simeonovgrad and Dolno Botevo.
