PCSO 55011 Wendy Stanley Kings Hill and Wateringbury & Downs PCSO 55011 Wendy Stanley Kings Hill and Wateringbury & Downs & Mereworth with PCSO Robinson. I have been a PCSO for Kent Police for 15 years and I have spent those years in Kings Hill and more recently I now cover Wateringbury. I work a 4 week shift pattern on either an 8am-6pm or a 12pm- 10pm with two rest days per week. My role has given me the opportunity to meet many varied people from all walks of life in whatever capacity is needed. I never know what each day will bring, I could be assisting with traffic control, trying to locate vulnerable missing people, carrying out enquires on behalf of the police or attending meetings amongst other things. We are a point of contact for the communities in which we serve our fellow police officers where possible and helping with partner agencies to resolve issues. My role is to provide a link between the communities which we serve and the police, supporting Victims of crime, gathering intelligence, maintaining public confidence and tackling Anti-social behaviour (ASB). I assist police by collecting and preparing evidence as necessary in the presentation of case files, supporting witnesses and victims in accordance with legislation, to maximise prosecution and conviction opportunities for criminal activity or ASB sanctions. My day starts by reviewing the incident logs for the wards I cover, focusing on repeat victims and /or locations of crime and ASB. I will have tasks allocated to me such as attending victims of burglary to provide reassurance or to gather evidence. Partnership working is a key element of my role, as I understand that not all problems require a police only approach, I work with schools, the local authority, other blue light partners such as Kent Fire and Rescue Service and health services so that we can try bring a multi-agency problem solving approach to support the people of Kent. I love my role as it really feels that I am able to make a difference and provide a named contact and friendly face of Kent Police to ensure we are putting victims at the heart of everything we do. .

  • East Malling Hotline Feb March 2021
East Malling Hotline February / March 2021 News from your Local Lib Dem Team in East Malling East Malling Centre Community Have your say on 20mph scheme Larder - there to support you for residential roads Huge thanks to the team at the East Malling Centre who have continued to do a fabulous job supporting residents during this latest lockdown. If you are in need of support, or if you wish to volunteer, please contact Liz Simpson. Trudy writes: After many years of resisting 20mph Schemes, KCC is now favouring them on the large scale used in many towns and cities. So I have used £3,500 of my Councillors Community Fund for KCC to prepare a scheme for consultation to cover East and West Malling and Larkfield. The idea is that all residential roads should have a 20 mph limit, marked only by road signs and markings on the road surface. KCC say the main through routes of Winterfield Lane, Clare Lane, Mill Street and New Road (between the King and Queen and Beech Road) could also be restricted to 20 mph. However they suggest added features such as ramps, flashing signs or chicanes would be needed, for which funding would have to be found. Consultation on a 30mph limit for New Road between Beech Road and A20 is expected soon. So, all estate roads in Bradbourne Park, Clare Park, Stepstile, and Winterfield estates would have 20mph limits. The northern/adopted end of Blacklands, Middle Mill, Stickens Lane,Upper Mill, Cottenham Close , Vigor Close, Church Walk, The Trudy has given £1,750 to the East Malling Grange, Rocks Close, Gillett’s Lane and Four Acres Community Centre from her Councillors would also be covered by 20 mph restrictions.

  • Local Plan DRAFT
ANNEX 1 Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council Local Plan DRAFT Regulation 19 Pre-Submission Publication June 2018 Foreword The Borough of Tonbridge and Malling is a diverse and characterful place. It includes areas of recent development and growth together with historic environments. Its geography is varied and the physical characteristics have and will continue to reflect patterns of land use and activity. It is a place where traditional and modern businesses thrive, where established and new communities have flourished but where pressures on community facilities, transport infrastructure and the environment are challenging. The Borough Council, working with a wide range of partners, have embraced the benefit of strategic planning over decades. That has been beneficial in shaping development and properly addressing needs for homes, jobs and supporting facilities in a planned way. Moving forward the continuation of that approach is ever more challenging, but in providing a sustainable and planned approach to our borough and providing for local needs this Plan takes on that challenge. This Local Plan relates closely to the borough and communities it will serve. It reflects national planning policy and shapes that locally, based on what is seen locally as the most important planning issues taking account of locally derived evidence. It is designed as a plan that is responsible in facing up to difficult choices and one which is based upon fostering care in the way we plan for this and future generations of Tonbridge and Malling. It provides a sound basis on which to judge planning applications, achieve investment and provide confidence about future development and future preservation where both are appropriate.

  • Landscape Assessment of Kent 2004
CHILHAM: STOUR VALLEY Location map: CHILHAMCHARACTER AREA DESCRIPTION North of Bilting, the Stour Valley becomes increasingly enclosed. The rolling sides of the valley support large arable fields in the east, while sweeps of parkland belonging to Godmersham Park and Chilham Castle cover most of the western slopes. On either side of the valley, dense woodland dominate the skyline and a number of substantial shaws and plantations on the lower slopes reflect the importance of game cover in this area. On the valley bottom, the river is picked out in places by waterside alders and occasional willows. The railway line is obscured for much of its length by trees. STOUR VALLEY Chilham lies within the larger character area of the Stour Valley within the Kent Downs AONB. The Great Stour is the most easterly of the three rivers cutting through the Downs. Like the Darent and the Medway, it too provided an early access route into the heart of Kent and formed an ancient focus for settlement. Today the Stour Valley is highly valued for the quality of its landscape, especially by the considerable numbers of walkers who follow the Stour Valley Walk or the North Downs Way National Trail. Despite its proximity to both Canterbury and Ashford, the Stour Valley retains a strong rural identity. Enclosed by steep scarps on both sides, with dense woodlands on the upper slopes, the valley is dominated by intensively farmed arable fields interspersed by broad sweeps of mature parkland. Unusually, there are no electricity pylons cluttering the views across the valley. North of Bilting, the river flows through a narrow, pastoral floodplain, dotted with trees such as willow and alder and drained by small ditches.

  • 'Gold' Standard Cuisine Comes to Kings Hill
‘Gold’ standard cuisine comes to Kings Hill 2 March 2021 Award-winning Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine will soon be on the menu for people living and working in Kings Hill when a popular family restaurant opens in Liberty Square. Turmeric Square will be open for takeaways from Monday 8 March – with an introductory 20% off offer – and when able to fully open will have seating for 140 diners. The restaurant is the fourth outlet of a family business that already runs Turmeric Gold in Tudeley, Cinnamon Square in Hildenborough and Happy Cuisine in Tonbridge. Kamrul Islam, who runs the restaurants with his six brothers, said: “We have always thought Kings Hill would be the perfect place for our next venture as we have a large customer base travelling from West Malling and surrounding areas to our current restaurants. “The continued loyalty of our customers means we have experienced high demand during lockdown, and we felt now was the right time to invest in new premises. Liberty Square is an attractive location and we are looking forward to providing diners with our award-winning service and food. “Our father was a chef and our restaurants are inspired by his drive and determination. It is very important to us to mark his legacy by maintaining his high standards and growing a successful family business.” The brothers have a policy of supporting local businesses and using Kent suppliers wherever possible, including for poultry and vegetables. Andrew Blevins, managing director of Kings Hill developer Liberty Property Trust, said: “Turmeric Square comes with a great reputation and will be a destination dining experience for which people will travel.
