YESTERDAY: The Bucs and Tigers met in Lakeland and the Pirates won a 4-2 decision...Kyle Lobstein started and pitched 2.0 scoreless innings...Wilfredo Boscan also tossed 2.0 scoreless frames...Trey Haley struck out two of the three batters he faced...Jordy Mercer went 2-for-3 with a home run...Francisco Cervelli hit a solo homer. JEFF LOCKE: The 28-year-old lefthander is making his first appearance of the spring this afternoon...Went 8-11 with a 4.49 ERA (168.1ip/84er) in a career high tying 30 starts with the Pirates last season...Made his Major League debut with the Bucs in 2011...Won a career-high 10 games in 2013 and was named to the National League All-Star team that year...Was originally selected by Atlanta in the second round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft. NEW KID ON THE BLOCK: Joe Block was hired as a play-by-play announcer on January 30, replacing Tim Neverett, who left the Pirates for a similar role with the Red Sox in Boston...Block spent the last four years in a play-by-play role with the Brewers after spending the 2011 season hosting the Los Angeles Dodgers radio post-game show on KABC in Los Angeles...Block joins Greg Brown, Steve Blass, Bob Walk and John Wehner on the Pirates broadcast team.
