She says that she has stayed involved with Leadership Jacksonville because she wants to continue improving our community, to share her experiences with future generations and also learn from class participants - past and present. She was most impacted by the poverty simulation, saying that it gave her a better understanding of how hard it can be to get back on your feet after falling. One action or problem takes on another and continues making a chain. The activity showed the importance of proper guidance and help that the community can provide to the families and also the importance of the desire of the families to improve. CLE gave Maria hope and inspired her to stay engaged in the community.
