The main aim of this catalogic work is to clarify current status of the genus in Turkey. New faunistical data are given in the text. A key for Turkish Cerambyx species is also given in the text. It has brown reddish coloration, slightly brilliant. Head is more or less salient. It is projecting, with very pronounced furrows. Antennae are variable length and long in general, the segments are either smoothed and hornlike or flattened or streamlined. The eyes are large, strongly cut away. They present strong necklines and very rude facets. The maxillary palpus has triangular last segment; tongue membranous, strongly bilobed. The protorax is rugulose, in general it has conspicuous teeth laterally. It is wrinkled or pleated from side to side. -

ABSTRACT The observations conducted between May and October 2014 in the protected area "The Forests in the Southern part of Cândeşti Piedmont" clearly show three species of protected saproxylic beetles: Lucanus cervus, Cerambyx cerdo and Morimus asper funereus. The Quercus forests, which are dominant in that area, ensure optimal living conditions for the species L. cervus and M. asper funereus, which are common species in this site. Several aspects are presented that concern the period of activity of the individuals, sex ratio, the presence of predators and the distribution map of the species. The species C. cerdo was only found on Quercus sp, and the small number of the individuals counted in the area show that the species does not benefit from favourable development conditions. A number of pressures identified make the rational management of this protected area to be extremely important. INTRODUCTION Saproxylic insects have a major role in the degradation of dead wood. Speight (1989) (in Buse et al., 2007) defines saproxylic insects as “invertebrates dependent, in their life cycle, on dead wood or very old trees”. -

The great capricorn beetle or Cerambyx longicorn (Cerambyx cerdo, Linnaeus, 1758) is an internationally protected umbrella species representing the highly diverse and endangered fauna associated with senescent oaks. For the conservation and monitoring of populations of C. cerdo it is important to have a good knowledge of its microhabitat requirements. We investigated determinants and patterns of C. cerdo distribution within individual old, open-grown oaks. Trees inhabited by this species were climbed, and the number of exit holes and environmental variables recorded at two sites in the Czech Republic. Distribution of exit holes in relation to height above the ground, trunk shading by branches, orientation in terms of the four cardinal directions, diameter, surface and volume of inhabited tree parts were investigated. -

Overview on the Chrysomeloidea Superfamily (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae, Orsodacnidae, Chrysomelidae) in Dobrogea (Romania)

The study represents a synthesis about the distribution of the species from superfamily Chrysomeloidea in Dobruja (Dobrogea) region (South-eastern Romania). 407 species from 132 genera and 15 subfamilies are recorded, based on the published data and on the study of material preserved in the collections of the “Grigore Antipa” National Museum of Natural History (Bucharest) and the Institute of Biology Bucharest of the Romanian Academy. The species Lilioceris lilii (Scopoli), Oulema erichsonii (Suffrian), Euluperus cyaneus (Joannis) and Altica quercetorum quercetorum Foudras are mentioned for the first time in fauna of Dobrogea. Some endemic species are highlighted: Vadonia hirsuta (K. Daniel & J. Daniel), Dorcadion equestre transsilvanicum Ganglbauer, D. gashtarovi Sama, Dascălu & Pesarini, D. axillare Küster and Brachyta balcanica Hampe. Rosalia alpina alpina Linnaeus, Morimus asper funereus Mulsant and Cerambyx cerdo cerdo Linnaeus are protected species, included in the annexes of the Council Directive 92/43/EEC on the conservation of natural habitats and wild fauna and flora. Also, Brachyta balcanica Hampe, Pedostrangalia verticalis Germar and Neodorcadion exornatum (Frivaldsky von Frivald) are species of national interest requiring strict protection, listed in the Government Emergency Ordinance no. 57/2007 on the regime of natural protected areas, the conservation of natural habitats, wild fauna and flora. This contribution provides a detailed account about additional species and subspecies that were collected from different areas and localities of the SCR, in as much as reporting two new species to be recorded for the first time from the Syrian territory, namely: Stenopterus atricornis Pic, 1891 and Pogonocherus barbarae Rapuzzi et Sama, 2012. Among the examined catches, one specimen was identified down to the genus level, but its species status is doubtful and its validity still needs further examination. All availabe faunistics, biogeographies and bionomics of all the reported species and subspecies are given. Moreover, a complete, refined and annotated checklist of the Syrian Cerambycidae was introduced, with special reference to all taxa recoreded from SCR up to the time of publication of this work. Abstract: This article describes geographical variability of Cerambyx cerdo cerdo Linnaeus, 1758 from the island of Krk. Monochamus saltuarius occidentalis ssp. n. is described from Czech Republic. Introducion During the exams of the entomological collections of the National Museum in Prague I noticed some different specimens of Cerambyx cerdo Linnaeus, 1758 from the island of Krk in Croatia. I believe that it is worth consideration. For many years I have called attention to the differences of Monochamus saltuarius (Gebler, 1830) from Siberia and Europe, so I decided to describe the western imagoes as a new subspecies. It is analogous to the described subspecies, e.g. Monochamus galloprovincialis (Olivier, 1795) or Monochamus sutor (Linnaeus, 1758). Material and Methods I borrowed some of the imagoes from the collections of the National Museum in Prague and the Staatliche Museum für Naturkunde in Karlsruhe. The comparison measuring was done using the eye piece scale of a microscope Wild. For the photography I used a camera Nikon 7000 with 35 and 105 mm lenses, and a personal computer for other work. 933 M.
