It gives me great pleasure to present the Chairman’s Report for the year 2019-2020. This year has been very challenging for us all, from both health and economic standpoints. The Covid-19 pandemic continues to place enormous pressure on all countries’ health systems and in Australia a very co-ordinated response has been orchestrated with inclusion of Private hospitals, like the Mater, as part of the strategy to avoid the crisis which has occurred overseas.

Usually, we have two functions each year. These very pleasant social events serve an important role in keeping our donors informed about our activities and in providing the opportunity to recruit new supporters. The first of these was held at the beautifully renovated Bathers’ Pavilion. The evening was substantially subsidised by Ian and Maryanne Pagent, the new owners of Bathers’. It was a lovely gathering and I sincerely thank Ian and Maryanne for their generous projects, The Bill and Patricia Ritchie Foundation hospitality.
