The University has taken remarkable and notable flight in the academics and research in higher education. I am highly delighted to take a review of various activities conducted by the university during academic year 2018-19 through this report. Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University, Solapur was established on 1st August, 2004. The university is unique in itself because the university is established only for a district. The university has completed fifteen years of its establishment. Till the date, three Vice Chancellors have shouldered the responsibility of the university. I am honored to be the fourth Vice Chancellor of the university from 6th May, 2018. During the tenure, I have introduced number of developmental schemes in the university keeping in mind the student at the centre. Students, teachers, non-teaching staff have been provided with different facilities. As on today, the university runs 82 skill oriented courses under skill development centre. MBA programme has also been reintroduced from the current year. Taking into the consideration, geographical position of Solapur district, new certificate courses have been initiated; these courses have been widely appreciated by the students and parents. The school of Fine Arts has been introduced to provide a platform to develop and nurture latent talent among the students. It is matter of high appreciation that newly introduced therapeutic, nutrition, acupressure, yoga, agro tourism, diplomas and certificate courses have been given welcoming response by the people of Solapur. Incubation centre has been establish in Ahilyadevi Holkar Solapur University, Solapur under startup scheme of the Central Government. It would help to nurthre new generations with entrepreneur skills. The university recently organized a workshop on “Loan Availability for the students for startups”. Representatives of different banks guided the students. The university has also introduced different paramedical courses under the school of health sciences; which would be highly helpful to the young generation. The university every year organizes ‘Unmesh Srujan Rangacha’ Youth Festival to provide platform for students to express their talents. 2000 student artists from 107 affiliated colleges participate in the same. This year, the university issued grant of Rs. 12 lac. to the host college. The youth festival for the current year was organized in well planned manner at Lokmangal Vidnyan and Udhyojakta College, Wadala, North Solapur. The projects and activities under taken by National Service Scheme department are also noteworthy. The students have given notable contribution to make Pandharpur vari a Nirmal Vari. More than 5000 students participated and worked hard to bring 5 ‘Swastha Vari’, ‘Harit Vari’, ‘Nirmal Vari’ a reality. They gave message of importance of cleanliness and tree plantation also distributed eco-friendly food plates. It is observed that day to day governance of the university is smooth. The university has taken many courageous decisions. The work of examination section is also going on smoothly. The teachers have got new platform for research through RUSA project. They have also been provided with research grants through various schemes and are given awareness through different workshops. Highlights • Foundation stone of examination building and administrative building has been laid by Hon’ble Shri. Devendra Fadanvis, Chief Minister, Maharashtra State.
