Story The Domaine de Verquière has been handed-down from father to son for generations and is currently managed by Thibaut Chamfort, who is perpetuating the family winemaking traditions. His commitment and passion for the family land has encouraged him to convert his vineyards into organic farming in 2009 (certification in 2011) The estate is located in the heart of Provence, in the village of Sablet, beneath the limestone cliffs of the . The 100 acres estate spreads through the appellations of Sablet, Plan de Dieu, , and . Most of the Verquière vineyards are ideally located on hilltops, overlooking the Southern Rhône valley

Grape varieties

60% Grenache, 20% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, 5% Cinsault

Terroir

Clay-limestone with river pebbles. ‘Plan de Dieu’ terraces with red

rounded pebbles.

Winemaking

The grapes are picked by hand. Fermentation at a controlled

temperature of between 28 - 30°C. 3 ’délestages’ (2-part process, first pump-down and then pump-over) during fermentation. The traditional fermentation on skins lasts from 25 to 30 days. Finally the wine is aged in large oak casks for 6 to 8 months.

Tasting notes

Bright ruby and already developed at the rim, this wine has a

complex bouquet of ripe fruits and spicy garrigue notes. On the palate too, its full aromas are revealed with pleasant persistence and delicate softness. It can be laid down for 10 years or more.

Pairing suggestions

This wine has good structure and is good with game dishes or coq au vin.
