Buster the Boxer You might think I am talking about a dog in this article, you’re right! In this report, you will know all about the new John Lewis advertisement about getting ready for Christmas. Many have already seen it, but if you haven’t, the picture below shows what the dog looks like. If you haven’t seen the advertisement (which you probably have ) the characters are: Hallie the hedgehog (the cutest thing ever! ), Betsy the badger, Otto and Olivia the foxes, and Sid the squirrel. Here are some useful quotes to picture the others: “I really love to vote for Hallie the hedgehog and Betsy the badger, and if I had to choose I wouldn’t be able to!” says Maddy in Year 5. Alice (also in Year 5 ) exclaimed, “I love the super cool advertisement from John Lewis!” Here is a little quiz for you John Lewis lovers:

Three Cool Fruits A new spin on breaktime snacks… Try one of these…Durian fruit: This fruit is so stinky that it is banned on Asian public transport. Rambutan: Once the rambutan’s spiky exterior is peeled away, its deliciously sweet and sticky flesh is revealed inside, with a large woody seed in the middle. Kumquat: People may have heard rumours that these are just tiny oranges, but although they are citrus fruits, they are actually purposefully small. These are some awesome fruits, and I hope you try them. By Axielottie

Children in Need! You will have heard that on the 18th of November it was CHILDREN IN NEED! WHAT IS IT? This is a charity that was made by the BBC. This brilliant charity helps children who are: homeless or live on the street, do not have enough food and clothes, don’t have any parents or carers, or have special needs and can’t do what other people have chances to do.

T W’ w a a On 7th October 2016, the world’s first glow-in-the-dark sea turtle was discovered in the South Pacific Ocean. A marine scientist, David Gruber was near the Solomon Islands and when he shone a spotlight on the turtle, he noticed that it could glow in the dark. Some scientists think that it is the first reptile known to have biofluorescence in it, which enables the creature to absorb colour and give off a bright glow. Sea turtles are magnificent and elegant animals, but this hawksbill sea turtle is even more amazing. By Cutie Candy

Bonfire night is very enjoyable for most people to watch and see all the colourful explosions fill the sky, but this is not the same for your cute little or even big animals. The fireworks can alarm them and can make them anxious and scared. As well as looking after yourself, you have to look after your adorable pets as well because they are so cute! Here are a few ways to help all sorts of pets and animals: Indoor animals! Be wary of when fireworks are going to happen. So they can’t run away or hear them loudly, shut any doors and windows. Be sure that there is no way for them to see the flashing lights. Build a comfortable den or cuddly area where they can stay and calm down. Apparently, there is also a way to wrap a blanket around animals and it calms them. If they are familiar with any noise like the television or music, you can play that to make them feel more normal. Also try not to get angry at them or give them loads and loads of attention - do what you normally do. Outdoor animals! If they are animals such as rabbits or guinea pigs, to help them you can move their hutches to a garage or shed to give more sound protection. To give it more sound protection, you could place a light-weight, breathable blanket over the top of their cage. If they scuttle and run about, you can give more bedding for them to run to but not too much. Year 5 trip to St Alphege Church

On November 24th 2016, Year 5 Classes Dali and Da Vinci went on an awesome trip to St Alphege Church in Whitstable. The trip was really fun, and we got to learn a lot about St Alphege.

On the walk down there, we walked in pairs and went down the High Street and passed lots of shops on the way there. When we got there, we had to be silent as people were working and praying. Everybody had a clipboard and a worksheet of things we could find around the church. They were things like: the lectern, pews, bibles, stain glass windows and the awesome old, antique organ. On the back of the sheet, we had different questions about the church and its history. Some of the question were: What is the story of St Alphege? We learnt the story of St Alphege and it is very interesting so I thought I would tell you about it. The Vikings did not want St Alphege to be Archbishop of Canterbury, and they captured him. The Vikings saw a way to make money by making people pay to release him, but St Alphege did not want this to happen so he told the people not to pay. One night when the Vikings had had a bit too much to drink, they pelted poor St Alphege with ox bones and then chopped his head off with a double-headed axe; now that double-headed axe is the sign of St Alphege.

We looked around the church for about half an hour and filled out our sheets. Then we had to leave so the church could get on with their day. We said our goodbyes and set on our way. On the way back, lots of people were talking about how amazing the trip was. I know I definitely did! I got some quotes from people who went on the trip. Maddy (Year 5) was quoted as saying, “I really enjoyed the chance to look around the church, and my favourite part was when we got to look at the amazing organ.” Erika (Year 5) said, “I really enjoyed seeing the patterns around the church.” Esme (also Year 5) was reported as saying, “They had a Christmas tree outside, which made it really pretty for Christmas.” Lily (Year 5) agreed, “It looked very pretty the way they had scenes on the windows.” Everybody really enjoyed the chance to look around the church. Sports captains and leaders take the charge of PE lessons throughout the school year. Sports captains and leaders have been given the chance to take a 30 minute lesson with all sorts of activities to do with all different years and to win vital house points. This will help the children to share sporting knowledge, sportsmanship and responsibility onto lower years and achieve it themselves. There will be all sorts of activities ranging from dribbling a basketball to running races when we are able to go on the field and playground. They can vary throughout the year. As sports captain, I think it is a great way to help the younger years and older years and to interact with them. I have written this article to notify you of the fun sporting experience your children are having.
