History Kangiqsujuaq, often called Wakeham Bay, is located north of the tree limit near the Hudson strait, 420 km away from Kuujjuaq and 1850 km away from Montreal. As the region is rich in ore, mines have been exploited and a trading post was KANGIQSUJUAQ built in 1910. The community saw a revival in 2007 when the Pingualuit National Park was created.
