The 1987 race was again typical of what "The Rock" is all about-a well~managed race for runners of all abilities, entirely organized by a dedicated group of 1,300+ volunteers. We have no paid staff and we offer no prize money, but year after year, the national running magazines rank the Dallas White Rock Marathon among the top marathons in the country. The February '88 issue of Runner's World again selected DWRM in the top 20 marathons in the nation stating, ''They make use of their resources to stage exciting, runner~centered events." Much of the thanks for the high quality of the race goes to our 1987 sponsors: Texas Instruments, Adelstein Jewelers, T.G.I. Friday's, Alexander & Alexander and Mass Mutual, and to our 14 aid station sponsors and crews.
