The Diocese of Santa Fe succeeded the vicariate in 1853. It was expanded in 1859 to include the Gadsden Purchase and elevated to an archdiocese in 1875. The Genealogical Society of Utah, Salt Lake City, Utah, and the Huntington Library, San Marino, California, microfilmed the sacramental records History of Bosque Redondo Mission, Bosque Redondo, New Mexico 1872-1880 Diocesan priests from San Jose, Anton Chico attended Fort Sumner Mission/ Bosque Redondo Mission (Navajo), New Mexico 3 Holdings of Catholic-related records about Native Americans: Inclusive dates: 1598-1680, 1692-present Volume: Approximately 24-25 cubic feet Description: Categories A, C-F, and H (before ca. 1900) are derived from Fray Angélico Chávez, O.F.M., Archives of the Archdiocese of Santa Fe, 1678- 1900, Academy of American Franciscan History, 1957. B, G, I-L (after ca. 1850) are described by record type as most were not fully processed and arranged by classification scheme in 2006. No records of the Office of Native American Ministry/ Indo-Hispanic Affairs (established ca. 1975) have been transferred to the archives. Ewing of the Bureau of Catholic Indian Missions, pastors of Indian missions and parishes in New Mexico and El Paso, Texas, governors of Indian pueblos in New Mexico and El Paso, Texas, the Propaganda de la Foi (Paris, France), the Propaganda Fide (Rome, Italy), and U.S. civil authorities; few in Spanish.
