U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration REGISTER U.S. Department of Transportation Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration REGISTER A Daily Summary of Motor Carrier Applications and of Decisions and Notices Issued by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration DECISIONS AND NOTICES RELEASED April 30, 2012 -- 10:30 AM NOTICE Please note the timeframe required to revoke a motor carrier's operating authority for failing to have sufficient levels of insurance on file is a 33 day process. The process will only allow a carrier to hold operating authority without insurance reflected on our Licensing and Insurance database for up to three (3) days. Revocation decisions will be tied to our enforcement program which will focus on the operations of uninsured carriers. This process will further ensure that the public is adequately protected in case of a motor carrier crash. Accordingly, we are adopting the following procedure for revocation of authority; 1) The first notice will go out three (3) days after FMCSA receives notification from the insurance company that the carrier's policy will be cancelled in 30 days. This notification informs the carrier that it must provide evidence that it is in full compliance with FMCSA's insurance regulations within 30 days. 2) If the carrier has not complied with FMCSA's insurance requirements after 30 days, a final decision revoking the operating authority will be issued.     Dogwood History Year by Year 1941 - Tommy Barnes Tommy Barnes, with a 72-hole score of 4 over par, 292, won the first Dogwood Tournament over the Druid Hills links on April 25, 26, and 27, 1941. Sportswriter Al Sharp described Barnes and his remarkable showing: “Needing a 2-under-par 34 on the back nine to beat Gene Gaillard, the happy-go-lucky man in the lucky green hat shot exactly that for victory. One over par through the fourteenth hole and knowing what he had to do, Barnes rolled two birdies in a row into the fifteenth and sixteenth cups for a stroke lead and held it to the finish. He got down a six-footer at the fifteenth after a beautiful iron to the par three hole, and then hit the par five sixteenth in two shots to land another birdie. “Barnes had moved into third place at the three-quarters mark with a 71 for 221, five strokes back of Dr. Julius Hughes, the medalist, and one behind Bill “Dynamite” Goodloe. The winner carded a 37-34-71 on the final round. There had been some innovations for the tournament. In particular, prior to 1941 the accepted amateur tournament was medal qualifying and match play elimination. It was an accepted fact that the lack of experience in medal play was responsible for many fine amateur golfers failing to qualify in various tournaments. A medal competition better prepared amateurs for the following qualifying rounds in regularly scheduled state and local tournaments. Medal competition also was regarded as a more valid method of establishing the best golfer during the event.

Particularly, interest is placed on the Tigers, the team representing the local institution, Auburn University. This research paper investigates the spatio-temporal role of football at Auburn University and presents findings that are indicative of the spatial characteristics of Auburn’s football fan region and their relationship with the team. Sources used to map Auburn’s fan region included records of 2010 season ticket holders and Auburn booster club locations and membership figures. The fans are predominantly found in Alabama and Georgia. Heavy concentrations are seen in Auburn, as well as major urban centers with close proximity to Auburn such as Atlanta, Birmingham, and Montgomery. Questionnaire surveys of Auburn fans found that the majority of participants had attended Auburn and/or had family members who had attended Auburn.
