If users have their device set for auto-updates, then the existing configurations will be preserved and the apps will be automatically upgraded. To learn more about Avaya Equinox™ go to: http://www.avaya.com/en/solution/avaya-equinox-experience/. Avaya Communicator for iPhone 2.1 will be updated to Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 for iOS. This will be a universal app supporting both iPhone and iPad devices. The app update will upgrade the 2.1 client and migrate user settings and preferences. Existing users of Avaya Communicator for iPad with Avaya Aura® environments should uninstall Avaya Communicator for iPad and install Avaya Equinox™ for iOS. Avaya Communicator for iPad will remain on the app store for use by Avaya IP Office customers. Avaya Communicator for Android will be updated to Avaya Equinox™ for Android 3.0. This app will support both smart-phone and tablet Android devices. The app update will upgrade the 2.1 client and migrate user settings and preferences. Device and OS Support: Avaya Equinox™ for iOS requires iOS 9 or greater. Apple iPhone 4S is no longer supported. Avaya Equinox™ for Android requires a minimum OS version of 4.1. Important changes that should be considered: User Interface design: The Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 interface has received significant enhancements. A tutorial has been added to explain new user interface elements upon app startup. A new Unified Login option uses a single username and password for both one-X CES and AMM login. Screen tabs have been replaced by slider navigation menu. Unified Search lets users search all contact sources at the same time. Top of Mind home screen shows at-a-glance summary view of Next Meetings, History and Messages. Meetings view shows local calendar events & presents a tap-to-join button if dial information is available. A video icon is shown as a calling option and is enabled for compatible calls. A presence and call options screen consolidates a user’s Presence status/message and incoming/outgoing call settings. Contacts: Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 supports “Equinox” Contacts which are Avaya Aura ® PPM contacts that are shared by all SIP endpoints. If Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 is configured for SIP, Equinox contacts will be available to the user. Avaya one-X CES Favorites have been replaced by Equinox (Aura PPM) Contacts for users that are also SIP configured. If a SIP connection is lost, but one-X CES is available, the application will not default to one-X CES Favorites. For remote users, Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise or VPN is required to access non-local contacts. Presence: Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 supports SIP Presence and will no longer connect through one-X CES for Presence Services. Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 can now publish presence states and supports Away and DND. If a SIP connection is lost, but one-X CES is available, the application will not default to one-X CES Presence. For remote users, Avaya Session Border Controller for Enterprise or VPN is required for Presence. Auto-Configuration: Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 will process the additional 46xxsettings.txt parameters that are relevant to new features (for example video). Auto-configuration may fail if any parameter is not structured correctly. It’s possible that a working Release 2.1 configuration file will fail to work with Avaya Communicator 3.0 if a previously ignored settings parameter is not structured correctly. Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 supports a new, optional, advanced auto-configuration service via Avaya Aura® Device Services. Security: Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 supports validation of the hostname and SIP domain as part of its server certificate identity validation process. In release 2.1, only Avaya Communicator for Android supported the private certificate trust store. With Avaya Equinox™ 3.0, both iOS and Android support private trust store for private certificate distribution. When the private trust store is used it must contain all Certificate Authority certificates required to validate server certificates as the platform trust store will not be used. Conferencing: Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 supports AAC and Scopia conferencing with multi-party audio and video conferences including viewing shared content. If a user is provisioned with these services, then they will now be able to connect using their mobile device. Resolution N/A Workaround or alternative remediation Accessing a preview version of Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 for iOS and Android: Avaya aims to make Avaya Equinox™ 3.0 highly backwards compatible with existing deployments and settings configurations. In order to allow customers early access to the 3.0 clients to test and ensure compatibility in advance of the release, a client preview program has been established. Avaya is able to enable a small number of users (2-3) per customer on both the iOS and Android clients. These preview clients will need to be un-installed and replaced by the app-store versions at the time of launch. To enroll in the preview program: 1. Send an email to [email protected] with the tag “#equinox-preview” in the subject line. 2. If you require the iOS client preview, then include 2-3 work email addresses along with firstname/lastname. These details will be used to send Apple TestFlight invites. Note: Clearly indicate that these addresses are meant for the iOS preview. 3. If you require the Android client preview include 2-3 Google Play account email addresses along with work email addresses. The Google Play addresses are required for enrollment and the work email addresses will be used for any required announcements or feedback requests. Clearly indicate that these addresses are for the Android preview. © 2016 Avaya Inc. All Rights Reserved.
