The main goal of the workshop is to share multidisciplinary researches between the most important schools of architecture in the Balkan Region and the School of Architecture at Politecnico di Bari. During the meeting, will be discussed different methodological approaches, both theoretical and practical, regarding the problem of the form of contemporary city and that of its spatial design. In the framework of the Erasmus+ KA107 Programme, rather than scattering different visiting professors/researchers in different times from all over the partner countries, we propose an intensive event in the form of a workshop. It is to be articulated in lectures and design ateliers, as well as a place where to confront each other’s ideas and exchange personal points of view by one’s own research results.

The topic of the workshop will be the reuse of abandoned work spaces inside the city of Fasano (BR) or along its edge by the sea. Considered as potential resources for projecting the morphology of the city, these areas represent an important occasion to experiment new settlement and housing models, which should be capable to deal with sustainability needs as well as with the aspirations of our time to provide pieces of nature in the city. In Puglia there are many urban and natural contexts characterized by Organizing Institution the presence of disused plants (industrial, military, manufacturing Politecnico di Bari areas, etc.). All of them are areas of “crisis” when addressing to the urban morphology. Once we are ready to give these areas back to Hosting Institution the city, a new debate on the urban form will be needed, and the Dipartimento dICAR creation of public spaces and facilities will be the occasion to design new theoretical models to be applied where those estate-driven Partners processes, conducted in the last decades, failed. In particular, the University of Montenegro, University of Sarajevo, University of workshop will focus on three areas in the territory of Fasano, with Belgrade, University of Kosovo, Polytechnic University of Tirana, three very peculiar environments. One will be by the sea, completely Universiteti Marin Barleti, Epoka University, Polis University, Comune apart from Fasano, where one can find the residual brownfields di Fasano (Br) placed in a protected area. Another case study is to be found on the outskirt of the town, dealing with the topic of the limit between urban Scientific committee environment and countryside. The third area is a former productive F. Calace, F. Defilippis, A.B. Menghini, M. Montemurro, A. Nitti, M. building in the consolidated part of the urban fabric, dealing with Turchiarulo high density and historical features.
