Late in the shift yesterday, spotting outside of the fire perimeter caused winds and slope to align and an uphill run occurred. Warming temperatures continue to increase fire behavior, which should peak around 8/15 before the next cooling period. Key concern for today is spotting across Ashley Creek drainage. Remarks: Estimated incident costs to date (box 45) is reported for entire complex of all fires, including those that have been returned to the local district while they were under control of the incident management team.

Once individual fires are fully contained and returned to the local district, they are removed from the 209 and no longer reported by the West Lolo Complex. The West Lolo Complex currently includes only the Thorne Creek fire. Fires that have been contained include Quinns, Upper Graves Creek, Thompson, Deep Creek, Sheep Creek, Cataract, Siegel Creek and Sunset. Percent containment has been adjusted frequently up and down as fires have been returned to home unit and removed from the complex.

Box 31 Line H should indicate that 30 residents currently are evacuated. The previous reporting period included 69 residents evacuated, but the Harlow zone was rescinded to an evacuation warning on 8/11/2021. Large Incidents: occurred over much of the fire area. Isolated torching and short range spotting did occur in some areas. Remarks: GB Team 6 is also managing the Burnt Peak fire. All resources on the South Yaak fire are administratively and financially under the control of the Burnt Peak fire cost code and incident number. Some resources reflected in Block 49 may be surge resources provided by GACC and are not reflected in eISuite. Planned Actions: Identify and suppress spot fires from rollout along completed firelines. Maintain firing operations to keep up with fire progression to the north on the east and west flanks of the fire. Utilize heavy equipment to prep indirect line along the O'Brien Road on the east and south flank. Continue construction on the fuel break south of Seventeen Mile Creek developments and along the Eastside Road to enhance future containment opportunities. This prep work is expected to take 4-6 operational periods. Large fire growth would likely challenge ability to hold indirect firelines with currently assigned resources. Prepare to implement evacuation plans in coordination with local emergency management. Transition from Great Basin IMT2 Team 6 to Great Basin IMT2 Team 5 will occur on 8/12/21 at 0600.

Most activity occurred in the Survey Mountain/Benning Creek drainage areas. Remarks: Team 6 is managing both the Burnt Peak and South Yaak Fire. Resources are being assigned to the Burnt Peak financial code and incident number. Total resource numbers reflected in the 209 are not fully reflected in eIsuite and are surge resources from the GACC and local unit. Planned Actions: Lack of enough hand crews will force indirect fireline operations creating potential for large fire growth due to non-contained fire perimeter and continued risk exposure. Fire growth due to predicted weather will expand uncontained fire perimeter, increasing threat to values at risk. This could increase the potential for large evacuations and expanded area closures. Complete contingency line operations from the 2020 Callahan burn scar towards the west side of the community of Troy. Prepare to implement current point protection plans and evacuation plans in coordination with local emergency management. Begin transition with Great Basin IMT2, Team 5 for transfer of command on 8/12/21 at 0600.
