The building has been constructed on land at No. 450, D R Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo 10 obtained on a 30 year lease ending in 2023. A characteristic of land is that it normally has an indefinite economic life and the title of the land is not expected to pass to the Chamber at the end of the lease term. Therefore, the Chamber does not receive substantially all of the risks and rewards incidental to ownership. Hence, the lease of the said land is recognised as an operating lease in the books of account of the Chamber.

The land & building at No. 450, D R Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo 10 has been valued as at 31 March 2010 by an independent professional valuer Mr. H R de Silva on 31 January 2011 and the value to The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka of the land (on lease) and building (up to another 30-year lease, and reversion to nominal value after the period (20% of present value) is determined as Rs. 68 Mn.
