Processing There are two types of gold ore: Single refractory - the gold is locked in sulfide mineral particles that must be oxidized to expose the gold for cyanide leaching. The autoclaves do this function effectively. Double refractory - the ore also contains preg- robbing carbon that will collect solubilized gold in the leaching circuit if it is not removed (oxidized) first. Both of these problems are solved by roasting the ore at a high temperature.
