McMahon of Saratoga Adds Two New Graded Stakes Winners for 2012 Breeding Season

Saratoga Springs, NY—Joe McMahon announced two new sires for 2012 today. Darley’s multiple graded stakes winner JUSTENUFFHUMOR has relocated to McMahon's for his second season at stud and Saratoga Grade I winner HERE COMES BEN, retired in late September, has been added to the farm's roster, bringing the total stallions to nine for 2012.

HERE COMES BEN raced for Marianne and Brandon Chase’s Group 1 Stables and was trained by Charles Lopresti. The Forego-G1 was HERE COMES BEN's graded stakes debut and fourth consecutive victory at the seven furlong distance where he defeated a stellar field including Grade I champion Big Drama, who won the Breeders' Cup Sprint G- I in his next start, and Grade I winner Girolamo, who won the Vosburg G-I in his next start, as well as Vineyard Haven, Warrior’s Reward and Bribon, all Grade I winners.

JUSTENUFFHUMOR won six straight races, including back-to-back wins in Saratoga’s Fourstardave and Bernard Baruch Handicaps, both Grade IIs, earning 103 and 106 Beyers, as well as running third in the Breeders’ Cup Mile-G1, beaten just 1 ½ lengths by world champion .

McMahon commented on the additions, “HERE COMES BEN is by Darley star , sire of Horse of the Year Zenyatta and winner . Breeders’ Cup placed JUSTENUFFHUMOR is by Distorted Humor, sire of champion dual classic winner Funny Cide, a McMahon graduate, as well as 2011 Breeders’ Cup Classic G-I and G-I winner . New York is poised to become a leading state in breeding and racing and McMahon of Saratoga Thoroughbreds is committed to the future of our industry here.”

McMahon added “Both horses are from active racing families with proven sires within the first three dams. I believe breeders can succeed with these horses on the track or in the sales ring. HERE COMES BEN will stand for $7,500 and JUSTENUFFHUMOR will stand for $5,000, both are live foal guaranteed.”
