Asian Beetle: Welcome, friends and neighours, And everyone we know. All the bugs have gathered For a merry Christmas show.
Grasshopper 1: The carpenter bees built all the sets. The silk worms made our clothes.
Grasshopper 2: See how the dragonflies around And how the glow worm glows?
Bumblebee: Remember when you brought that tree Right into your house?
Yellow Jacket 1: Well, we were hiding deep inside, As quiet as a mouse.
Yellow Jacket 2: Don’t worry, the termites were left out, The roaches and stink bugs, too.
Cricket 1: But all the rest of us are here To sing and dance for you.
Cricket 2: So put your hands together For this buggy celebration.
Mosquito: Consider this your invitation To a Christmas Infestation!

Dragonfly 1: Oh no, something bad has happened. The termites have come uninvited!
Dragonfly 2: Now hold on, everybody, Let’s not get too excited.
Dragonfly 1: But they’ve chewed up all the decorations. They even ate the lights!
Dragonfly 2: Now the evergreen is dark, And it’s almost Christmas night.
Ladybug 1: Here comes the termites, like it or not, Lined up all in a row.
Ladybug 2: They’ve already wrecked the Christmas tree. And how they’ll steal the show!

SCENE 3 Wood Tick 1, 2 & 3, Termite 1 & 2, Butterfly, Praying Mantis, Queen Bee, Housefly, Ladybugs 1 & 2
Wood Tick 1: Now wait a minute! Wait a minute! This will never do. Our Christmas tree is ruined [look at termites] And it’s all because of you!
Wood Tick 2: You’ve chewed right through the branches And even ate the lights.
Wood Tick 3 And now the evergreen is dark, and termites . …
All Wood Ticks: That’s not right!!
Termite 1: But wait! Hold on! We meant no harm. That’s just what termites do. Maybe we can fix this and make it up to you.
Butterfly: You better think fast; here comes the queen, And she doesn’t like surprises.
Praying Mantis: If something doesn’t go her way, Her temper really rises! [pause] Amen.
Queen Bee: What’s going on? What’s happened here? Why isn’t that evergreen lit? I’m the Queen Bee after all, And I’m ready to throw a fit!
Housefly: Well, the termites were so hungry They ate the Christmas lights. And now the evergreen is dark, And it’s almost Christmas night!

Queen Bee: Termites! Termites! Why are they here? All they do is chew!
Housefly: [look at Queen Bee] That’s right, your royal majesty, But what are we to do?
Termite 2: [look at Queen Bee] We’re terribly sorry, your highness. We just got on a roll. And once we started eating, We just lost all control!
Queen Bee: Well, this will never do at all. Is there nothing we can try?
Ladybugs 1 & 2: A Christmas with no Christmas lights? I think I’m going to cry!

SCENE 4 Termite 3 & 4, Queen Bee, Praying Mantis
[look at Queen Bee] Termite 3: Your majesty! Your majesty! We think we can make it right, And have the evergreen lit up Before it’s Christmas night.
Queen Bee: Well, what is it bug? Tell me quick! I really want to hear. What can we do to light the tree And turn on holiday cheer?
Termite 4: We have some special guests this year, Friends of yours and mine! And what they do best most every night Is let their little light shine!
Queen Bee: What a great idea! I love those little bugs. They always light up the skies.
Praying Mantis: And here they come to save the day, The little fireflies! [pause] Amen!

SCENE 5 Soldier Beetle 1 & 2, Termite 3 & 4, Praying Mantis, Glowworm, Boll Weevil, Flea 1, Hornet
Soldier Beetle 1: Thank you, fireflies. You saved the day. You lit up the Christmas tree.
Soldier Beetle 2: You made the holiday complete, And oh, so beautifully!
Termite 3: I guess we’re really not welcomed here. We better hit the road.
Termite 4: Yeah, and we might as well do it quick, Before those ticks explode.
Praying Mantis: Wait a minute! Not so fast. We want you all to stay. No one should be left out On this special holiday.
All: AMEN!
Termite 3: Really? Really? Do you mean it? Do we really get to stay?
Soldier Beetle 2: Not only that, the Queen has ordered a lumberyard buffet!
Glowworm: No one will be left out. We should always find a way To make room for everyone On this and every day.
Boll Weevil: Christmas is a time for sharing, For handshakes and hugs.

Flea 2: We wish you Happy Holidays And Merry Christmas too.
Flea 3: If you celebrate in other ways, We hope they’re merry too.
Flea 4: Now as you go to merry make, You’ll eat and sing and talk.
Flea 5: Remember all your little bugs, And be careful where you walk! [all look up and wince.]
