Sant Kabir Was a Great Social Reformer : President by : INVC Team Published on : 15 Jul, 2018 09:19 PM IST Sant Kabir was a great social reformer : President By : INVC Team Published On : 15 Jul, 2018 09:19 PM IST INVC NEWS Fatehabad , The President of India, Mr Ramnath Kovind today appreciated both the Executive and the Legislature for actively abridging the gap of social inequalities in the society by implementing schemes for the welfare of the poor and weaker sections of the society. The President was addressing the largely attended Shiromani Kabir Prakash Diwas at Fatehabad. He paid rich tributes to Sant Kabir and said that he had shown the path of equality and harmony and his teachings could not be confined to any particular religion, creed, caste, region or language. He said Mahatma Gandhi had the same spirit and Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, Deen Dayal Upadhyay and Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia too had same ideology. Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar, the architect of our Constitution, was also influenced by the philosophy of Saint Kabir. Therefore, our constitution is based on principles of justice, freedom and brotherhood. While expressing his happiness over the ongoing Monsoon, he said that he was confident that Members of Parliament and Legislatures would take decisions in larger public interest and abide by the basic principles of democracy like debate, dialogue and discussion in the ensuing Monsoon Sessions of Parliament and Vidhan Sabhas. Uplift of weaker sections of the society is the duty of the Government, he added. While lauding the welfare schemes being implemented by the Haryana Government, he appreciated the decision of the state government to celebrate birth anniversary of Saint Kabir in every district. The government is also celebrating the birth anniversaries of other great saints, he added. Mr Kovind said that Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao campaign, which was launched from Panipat on January 22, 2015, has considerable improved the sex ratio. The State well deserves appreciation, he added. He was all praise for Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki saying that he was very sensitive towards the needs of differently-abled persons, patients and victims of disaster and always ready to support such people. While welcoming the President, who had for the first time visited the district, Haryana Governor, Prof. Kaptan Singh Solanki urged him to continue to shower his grace on Haryana. Referring to the large number of women in the audience, Prof. Solanki said that those societies and nations progress where women come forward to make their contribution. He said that Saint Kabir resides in every individual who is influenced by him. Even today, his couplets hold relevance, added the President. Haryana Transport Minister, Mr. Krishan Lal Panwar, who was representing the Chief Minister, apologized his absence due to many government programmes but read out message of the Chief Minister. “It’s a matter of pride that 620th Prakat Diwas of Shiromani Kabir is being celebrated in Fatehabad. Saint Kabir was born at such a time when ignorance and stereotype attitude was prevailing in the society and his arrival turned out to be a blessing as he taught the people how to live practically. He also delivered the message of social harmony to the people”, added the Chief Minister. Others spoke on the occasion included Chairperson, Zila Parishad, Palwal, Mrs Chameli Devi, former MP, Madhya Pradesh, Mr Narayan Singh Kesari. On the occasion, the President also released the banner of www.internationalnewsandviews.com Mega World Donation Drive and book authored by Dr Jai Narayan.
