  • Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the Differences Between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas
Addendum to School Places Strategy 2017-2022 – Explanation of the differences between Wiltshire Community Areas and Wiltshire School Planning Areas This document should be read in conjunction with the School Places Strategy 2017 – 2022 and provides an explanation of the differences between the Wiltshire Community Areas served by the Area Boards and the School Planning Areas. The Strategy is primarily a school place planning tool which, by necessity, is written from the perspective of the School Planning Areas. A School Planning Area (SPA) is defined as the area(s) served by a Secondary School and therefore includes all primary schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into that secondary school. As these areas can differ from the community areas, this addendum is a reference tool to aid interested parties from the Community Area/Area Board to define which SPA includes the schools covered by their Community Area. It is therefore written from the Community Area standpoint. Amesbury The Amesbury Community Area and Area Board covers Amesbury town and surrounding parishes of Tilshead, Orcheston, Shrewton, Figheldean, Netheravon, Enford, Durrington (including Larkhill), Milston, Bulford, Cholderton, Wilsford & Lake, The Woodfords and Great Durnford. It encompasses the secondary schools The Stonehenge School in Amesbury and Avon Valley College in Durrington and includes primary schools which feed into secondary provision in the Community Areas of Durrington, Lavington and Salisbury. However, the School Planning Area (SPA) is based on the area(s) served by the Secondary Schools and covers schools in the towns and surrounding villages which feed into either The Stonehenge School in Amesbury or Avon Valley College in Durrington.

Geophysics in the Minster Environs, Warminster, Wiltshire, 2014. Mat Charlton and John Oswin with contributions from Mark Corney Bath and Camerton Archaeological Society & Artefact it Ltd i Abstract As part of the Warminster Heritage Lottery project, a number of geophysical surveys using resistance and magnetometry techniques were conducted on various sites in the northern portion of Warminster town in Wiltshire, the research aim being to search for signs of occupation pre-dating the development of the mediaeval market town. The survey would also look for any possible church buildings away from the present minster church, which is predominantly a Victorian rebuild? The sites were the only open spaces available, but those of any size were in use as school playing fields, which had undergone grading and so rearranged the topsoil. Nonetheless, there were a number of indications of possible earlier settlement, although these appeared to be prehistoric rather than pre-Norman. These could be on dry terrace or right down on the flood plain of the Were Stream. Limited surveying close to the church and observation of architectural features, suggested that any previous Minster church was most likely to be under or very close to the present church. Sites at risk of flooding on the River Stouri: Gillingham Some flood defence works have been undertaken to 2% annual probability (1 in 50 year) standard, but a significant number of properties are still at risk from less extreme events. Hammoon Roads flood frequently and property is at risk from 20% annual probability (1:5 year) (1990) events and greater. Blandford A defence scheme to 0.5% annual probability (1:200 year) standard was completed in 1993. Operations have to close floodgates in events to make scheme effective and require prior notice to do this. Sturminster Marshall A flood protection scheme designed to a 1% annual probability (1:100 year) standard was completed in 1992. Shapwick A flood protection scheme designed to a 1% annual probability (1:100 year standard) was completed in 1994. Holdenhurst A flood protection scheme designed to a 1.54% annual probability (1:65 year) standard was completed in 1992. Christchurch Flooding can occur due to high river levels, tides or a combination of both. River side caravan parks are at risk and flooded in 2002. An extensive flood protection scheme to the 0.1% annual probability (1:100 year) standard was completed 1992, protecting most property except the Iford Bridge Home Park and Beaulieu caravan park which have no protection and Grove Farm caravan park which is protected to a 1.33% annual probability (1:75 year) standard. Some isolated properties remain outside of the defences and still require flood warnings. Sites at risk of flooding on the River Wylyei: Wilton 15 properties were flooded from the Wylye in February 1990.

  • Boreham Mead, Warminster Analysis on the Spatial Separation Between Warminster and Bishopstrow and the Likely Effects Arising Fr
APPENDIX A TO APPEAL STATEMENT OF CASE BOREHAM MEAD, WARMINSTER ANALYSIS ON THE SPATIAL SEPARATION BETWEEN WARMINSTER AND BISHOPSTROW AND THE LIKELY EFFECTS ARISING FROM THE PROPOSED BOREHAM MEAD DEVELOPMENT May 2016 INTRODUCTION Application Number 13/06782/OUT for up to 35 custom build residential properties on land adjacent to the Boreham Road was considered by committee in June 2014. The committee resolved to approve the application, subject to the prior completion of a Section 106 legal agreement to cover various matters necessary to mitigate the impact of the development. That agreement was completed and the planning permission issued on 21st January 2015. A third party subsequently challenged the decision to grant planning permission via a Judicial Review. The challenge was heard in the High Court in July 2015 and Judgment was given in October 2015. The JR was advanced on four grounds. Three of these related to planning matters and the remaining one on whether a councilor at the meeting was entitled to vote on the matter. The challenge on planning matters related to (1) a claim that the development would have a significant effect on the River Avon Special Area of conservation because of the risk of contamination to the River Wylye through the specialist foundation works; (2) a claim that the EIA Screening Opinion was flawed; (3) a claim that the Council’s conclusion that the development would not harm heritage assets, such as the Conservation Area, was flawed. The Judge dismissed each of these claims, commenting on the related costs application that the claimant ‘lost badly’ on these grounds.
