WELCOME TO KEYSTONE, COLORADO! On behalf of the Rocky Mountain Water Environment Association (RMWEA) and the Rocky Mountain Section of the American Water Works Association (RMSAWWA) THANK YOU for joining us at this year’s Rocky Mountain Water Conference. The next few days will be filled with technical presentations, exhibits, and great networking opportunities. We are excited to have you join us in beautiful Keystone, Colorado where the Keystone Conference Center provides close proximity to the Exhibit Hall, Technical Sessions, Business Lunches, and all the other conference events. The Exhibit Hall schedule changed this year - it will be open exclusively from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm on Monday and Tuesday. Join the Exhibitors to learn about their products and services while enjoying light refreshments and a chance to win one of many raffle prizes. With more than 170 technical sessions offered this year, including two Sunday workshops, you can learn the latest on regulations, new technologies, case studies, and how others are overcoming challenges at their facilities. The technical program will provide attendees up to 15.5 training hours from Sunday to Wednesday afternoon. We also brought back the popular Operator Training Session - exclusively focused on gaining valuable operator experience - held on Wednesday. Among the many new things the Conference offers this year are two new competitions: Hydrant Hysteria and Meter Maddness. You also don't want to miss Tuesday night's social event at Keystone Ranch, and don't forget the buffet lunch Monday through Wednesday is included with registration. We are thrilled to welcome you to Keystone and hope you have a wonderful time. --Edyta Stec-Uddin and Bud Spillman "THANK YOU" TO THE CONFERENCE PLANNERS The Rocky Mountain Water Conference is developed, organized, and managed by a large group of volunteers with support from both organizations’ staff. 4 | ROCKY MOUNTAIN WATER CONFERENCE RMSAWWA/RMWEA GENERAL CONFERENCE INFORMATION The Opening General Session will be held on Monday 8:30 to 10:00 AM in Red Cloud/Shavano Rooms. Opening General Session Following a welcome by Karn Stiegelmeier, Summit County Commissioner, national dignitaries from the Water Environment Federation (WEF) and the American Water Works Association (AWWA) will provide their opening remarks. Afterwards, we will see an inspirational presentation from keynote speaker Sean Swarner. Sean was diagnosed with two deadly, different, and unrelated forms of cancer, once at the age of thirteen and again at the age of sixteen. After an incredibly poor prognosis, and being read his last rites, Sean astounded the medical community when he survived both these brutal diseases. With only one functioning lung, a prognosis of fourteen days to live, and being in a medically-induced coma for a year, Sean is the first cancer survivor to stand on top of the world. Sean has broken through defined human limitation in order to redefine the way the world views success. Sean continues to defy the odds, testing his own endurance while inspiring and motivating people around the world.

All source waters and treatment techniques are represented, and utilities must have had no violations in the past year in order to participate. Toilet Bowl Trivia Take the plunge and test your knowledge in the always entertaining Toilet Bowl Trivia. Teams seeking the coveted Golden Toilet trophy will demonstrate their acumen in categories such as water, wastewater, science, pop-culture, and arts and letters. This is a fun event whether viewing from the sidelines or competing. Join the Sewer Dude for this not‐to‐be‐missed event taking place in the Exhibit Hall on Monday from 4:30 to 6:30 PM. It is sure to include a lotta ins, lotta outs, and lotta what-have-you’s. Pipe Tapping, Hydrant Hysteria, and Meter Madness Competitions The RMSAWWA Competitions Committee is thrilled to announce the addition of the Hydrant Hysteria and Meter Madness events to go along with the always popular Pipe Tapping contest. The fun is scheduled in the Crestone Peak Terrace on Tuesday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. • Pipe Tapping: Watch a team of four simulate how a service line is installed in the field at a very fast pace. A hole is drilled and a corporation stop valve is installed in a pipe under water pressure. Concurrently, a service line is cut, flared and installed from a meter stand to the curb stop valve, and then to the corporation stop. When all is complete, the water gets turned on and the pipe is checked for leaks. Grab a rainjacket, or stand back! • Hydrant Hysteria: Observe teams of three take several hydrant parts and build a fire hydrant as fast as they can while competing against each other. This competition is a measure of the teams' skill to assemble a hydrant quickly and accurately. The reassembled hydrant will be tested by the judges for its ability to operate correctly. • Meter Madness: Each individual will compete to assemble a water meter as quickly as possible. Individuals will be furnished with a bucket containing disassembled meter parts and random miscellaneous extra parts. Judges will test the meter for proper operation and leaks. Show your support and cheer on the teams as they attempt to qualify for Nationals to be held at ACE 2020 in Orlando, Florida. Per tradition, a beer keg will be tapped after lunch, ensuring a great time for collaboration with others in the industry.

Operator Training Session (Sessions 39 and 47) Calling all operators! Because you enjoyed it last year, we brought back the Operator Training Session. This track session, held on Wednesday in Crestone Peak IV, is intended to provide water and wastewater operators practical exposure to today’s technical topics. By listening to speakers present and/or demonstrate, attendees will better understand how to resolve issues and challenges they may face now, or some time in the future. The agenda for this session is included in the Technical Program.
