ALEX BARRIE A PASSION FOR FOOTBALL AND THE RAILWAY Sadly, I must inform you of the passing of a friend and colleague, retired Motherwell branch member Alex ‘Big Baz’ Barrie, who passed away, in his sleep, on Saturday 13 February, three days short of his 63rd birthday. Alex, born on 16 February 1958, was a well-known character within our branch, who spent his whole railway career at Motherwell, first at the shed, and then the station. he joined the railway on Monday 20 August 1979 as a second man.
