Decriminalize UW #Georgefloyd #Charleenalyles #Jtwilliams #Tommyle #Shaunfuhr #Mannyellis
To sign on to this letter as an individual with ties to UW: https://bit.ly/DecrimUWind To sign on to this statement on behalf of an organization (RSO, academic unit, etc) , please go to: https://bit.ly/DecrimUWorg Decriminalize UW #GeorgeFloyd #CharleenaLyles #JTWilliams #TommyLe #ShaunFuhr #MannyEllis As members of the University of Washington (Seattle) community, we call on President Ana Mari Cauce and Provost Mark Richards to take immediate action to ensure the health and safety of people on campus, particularly Black and other persons of color, by protecting them from police violence by 1) the Seattle Police Department and 2) the UW Police Department. The national Movement For Black Lives has given the UW community an invitation to uphold our values of justice, equity, and anti-racism, and immediately divest from the Seattle Police Department (SPD) to protect our Black community members. In 2011, The US Department of Justice investigated SPD and found a pattern of excessive and unconstitutional force, which forced the City into a consent decree. The City is seeking to be released from the agreement despite repeated lack of accountability for police killings of Black residents -- most recently, Charleena Lyles and Shaun Fuhr.1 We bear witness to the ongoing harms that police violence enacts against Black lives. In the interests of public health and safety, we call on the University of Washington to divest from and cease any contracts with the Seattle Police Department. Specifically, we call on UW to break all ties (both informal and formal in the form of contracts, agreements, and MOUs) with Seattle Police Department by taking the following steps: 1) Immediately stop handing over people detained by UW Police Department to SPD custody.2 1 This statement was correct when the petition launched on June 2, 2020. -
Soul of Zelda: a Memoir of an Ephemeral Being Mitchell Kopitch A
Soul of Zelda: A Memoir of an Ephemeral Being Mitchell Kopitch A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Fine Arts University of Washington 2018 Committee: Ted Hiebert Sarah Dowling Program Authorized to Offer Degree: Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences ©Copyright 2018 Mitchell Kopitch University of Washington Abstract Soul of Zelda: A Memoir of an Ephemeral Being Mitchell Kopitch Chair of the Supervisory Committee: Ted Hiebert School of Interdisciplinary Arts and Sciences Hybrid document of memoir and fiction concerning fantasy, video games, and the ways in which game design nuance can be found in every day life. Particular attention is put on The Legend of Zelda from 1986, the first 3D Zelda installment, Ocarina of Time in 1998, and Dark Souls from 2011. This is a fictional story heavily inspired by those games and many others, but the story and characters are original, including a queer/gender bending protagonist. The story-line is a creative work that emulates the underlining philosophy of fantasy video games such as Zelda and Dark Souls, re-imagining video game design and personal gaming experiences as prose. 1 ~ Soul of Zelda ~ A Memoir of an Ephemeral Muse by Mitchell Kopitch Turn Page1 1 Book Equivalent of “Press Start”. 2 WORLD SELECTION: Poetics Statement Introduction: By the Author World I I-I: Intro Cinematic Interlude #1 - On Psychiatry I-II: Opening Interlude #2 - A Connection I-III: Character Creator Interlude #3 - Consumption World II II-I: Tutorial Interlude #4 - The Universe as Game II-II: Fast Travel Interlude #5 - On Labors of Love II-III: Mod Interlude #6 - Deprived World III III-I: Open World Interlude #7 - Extremity III-II: Dungeon Crawl Interlude #8 - The Male in the Room III-III: Boss Battle Interlude #9 - Of Demons and Memories Additional Content Attunement Exam 3 Poetics Statement When I parted ways with one of my roommates in college, he gave me his copy of Dark Souls (2011) as a parting gift. -

Gender Biased Hiding of Extraordinary Abilities in Girl-Powered Disney Channel Sitcoms from the 2000S
SECRET SUPERSTARS AND OTHERWORLDLY WIZARDS: Gender Biased Hiding of Extraordinary Abilities in Girl-Powered Disney Channel Sitcoms from the 2000s By © 2017 Christina H. Hodel M.A., New York University, 2008 B.A., California State University, Long Beach, 2006 Submitted to the graduate degree program in Film and Media Studies and the Graduate Faculty of the University of Kansas in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy. Chair: Germaine Halegoua, Ph.D. Joshua Miner, Ph.D. Catherine Preston, Ph.D. Ronald Wilson, Ph.D. Alesha Doan, Ph.D. Date Defended: 18 November 2016 The dissertation committee for Christina H. Hodel certifies that this is the approved version of the following dissertation: SECRET SUPERSTARS AND OTHERWORLDLY WIZARDS: Gender Biased Hiding of Extraordinary Abilities in Girl-Powered Disney Channel Sitcoms from the 2000s Chair: Germaine Halegoua, Ph.D. Date Approved: 25 January 2017 ii ABSTRACT Conformity messaging and subversive practices potentially harmful to healthy models of feminine identity are critical interpretations of the differential depiction of the hiding and usage of tween girl characters’ extraordinary abilities (e.g., super/magical abilities and celebrity powers) in Disney Channel television sitcoms from 2001-2011. Male counterparts in similar programs aired by the same network openly displayed their extraordinariness and were portrayed as having considerable and usually uncontested agency. These alternative depictions of differential hiding and secrecy in sitcoms are far from speculative; these ideas were synthesized from analyses of sitcom episodes, commentary in magazine articles, and web-based discussions of these series. Content analysis, industrial analysis (including interviews with industry personnel), and critical discourse analysis utilizing the multi-faceted lens of feminist theory throughout is used in this study to demonstrate a unique decade in children’s programming about super powered girls. -

It's probably because a huge gift package set is waiting for them; PEAI Debate Camp. Debate Camp is a camp that was held from February 2nd (Sat! to February 3rd (Sun! in Yang Peong English Village. 2 Dennis Teacher first arranged this camp for the PEAI students' extra opportunity to experience the "real" debate. The debate was divided into Junior and Senior division, each of them having 3 different motions and 1 Impromptu debate. What’s your zodiac? Actually, until last year, this camp was 'Debate Ski Camp' but this year the "Ski" part totally disappeared. It was mainly because of the danger that people could get injured and the lack of time to focus on debate. However, majority of the INTERVIEW WITH DENNIS TEACHER students were looking forward to this by the fact they were going to ski, but unfortunately, they seemed a little disappointed; including me, too. In this debate camp, we first had a seminar about the ski camp and a mock-debate done by the coaches with the 2 motion, "should the parents be responsible for their child's crime." The debate went on 4 times in a row for several KEDC Debate hours, in between we got to eat delicious lunch and dinner including rice, soup, and various side dishes such as kimchi and black beans.
