Parkinson’s disease (PD) is a slowly progressing neurodegenerative disease with accumulation of alpha-synuclein and the formation of Lewy bodies inside nerve cells. The prevalence of PD ranges from 100 to 200 cases per 100,000 population. However, in the Ukrainian reality, many cases of the disease remain undiagnosed, which affects the statistical indicators of incidence and prevalence. The purpose of the study is to compare PD epidemiological indices in the Southern Ukraine with all-Ukrainian rates. Material and methods. Statistical data of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, public health departments of Odesa, Mykolaiv and Kherson regions for 2015–2017 were analyzed. There were used the methods of descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. Results. Average prevalence of PD in Ukraine is 67.5 per 100,000 population — it is close to the Eastern European rate. The highest prevalence was registered in Lviv (142.5 per 100,000), Vinnytsia (135.9 per 100,000), Cherkasy (108.6 per 100,000) and Kyiv (107.1 per 100,000) regions. The lowest rates were in Luhansk (37.9 per 100,000), Kyrovohrad (42.5 per 100,000), Chernivtsi (49.0 per 100,000) and Ternopil (49.6 per 100,000) regions. In the Southern Ukraine, the highest prevalence of PD was found in Mykolaiv region. -

ABDUVOHID KARIMOV, CHAIRMAN OF THE STATE COMMITTEE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION AND FORESTRY OF THE REPUBLIC OF TAJIKISTAN, AT THE FOURTEENTH MEETING OF THE OSCE ECONOMIC FORUM Prague, 22 to 24 May 2006 Transport development and the environment in the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Chairman, Ladies and Gentlemen, Allow me on behalf of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan to express our sincere gratitude to the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe for the invitation to this meeting and to the OSCE Centre in Dushanbe in particular for helping us to participate in the work of the Fourteenth Meeting of the OSCE Economic Forum to examine transport development with a view to enhancing regional economic co-operation and stability and its impact on the environment. Regional and international environmental co-operation is one of the main focuses of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, increasing the effectiveness of many decisions adopted and helping in the implementation of practical measures to improve the state of the environment in our country and in the region. As you are aware, the Republic of Tajikistan played an active role in the preparation of the international conference held in Dushanbe on 7 and 8 November 2005, and representatives from Tajikistan also took part in the first stage of the Forum in Vienna in January of this year. This once again confirms Tajikistan’s desire to support an international policy of development and to create favourable conditions for its implementation in our country and in the region. -

Odessa Intercultural Profile
City of Odessa Intercultural Profile This report is based upon the visit of the CoE expert team on 30 June & 1 July 2017, comprising Irena Guidikova, Kseniya Khovanova-Rubicondo and Phil Wood. It should ideally be read in parallel with the Council of Europe’s response to Odessa’s ICC Index Questionnaire but, at the time of writing, the completion of the Index by the City Council is still a work in progress. 1. Introduction Odessa (or Odesa in Ukrainian) is the third most populous city of Ukraine and a major tourism centre, seaport and transportation hub located on the northwestern shore of the Black Sea. Odessa is also an administrative centre of the Odessa Oblast and has been a multiethnic city since its formation. The predecessor of Odessa, a small Tatar settlement, was founded in 1440 and originally named Hacıbey. After a period of Lithuanian control, it passed into the domain of the Ottoman Sultan in 1529 and remained in Ottoman hands until the Empire's defeat in the Russo-Turkish War of 1792. In 1794, the city of Odessa was founded by decree of the Empress Catherine the Great. From 1819 to 1858, Odessa was a free port, and then during the twentieth century it was the most important port of trade in the Soviet Union and a Soviet naval base and now holds the same prominence within Ukraine. During the 19th century, it was the fourth largest city of Imperial Russia, and its historical architecture has a style more Mediterranean than Russian, having been heavily influenced by French and Italian styles. -

What are main characteristics of the Ukrainian part of the Danube region, its strength and weaknesses, it`s vulnerability to hybrid threats? How hybrid activities are carried out in practice? 1. Lets begin from the first question. On official website of NATO we can see such definition of hybrid threats. "Hybrid threats combine military and non-military as well as covert and overt means, including disinformation, cyber attacks, economic pressure, deployment of irregular armed groups and use of regular forces. Hybrid methods are used to blur the lines between war and peace, and attempt to sow doubt in the minds of target populations. They aim to destabilise and undermine societies." The European Centre of Excellence for Countering Hybrid Threats proposes practically the same definition: "The term hybrid threat refers to an action conducted by state or non-state actors, whose goal is to undermine or harm a target by influencing its decision- making at the local, regional, state or institutional level. Such actions are coordinated and synchronized and deliberately target democratic states’ and institutions’ vulnerabilities. Activities can take place, for example, in the political, economic, military, civil or information domains. Bifurcation Chaos, 22, 1230028 (2012) [26 pages] DOI: 10.1142/S0218127412300285 Abstract The plasmodium of Physarum polycephalum is renowned for spanning sources of nutrients with networks of protoplasmic tubes. The networks transport nutrients and metabolites across the plas- modium's body. To imitate a hypothetical colonisation of the world and formation of major trans- portation routes we cut continents from agar plates arranged in Petri dishes or on the surface of a three-dimensional globe, represent positions of selected metropolitan areas with oat flakes and inoculate the plasmodium in one of the metropolitan areas. The plasmodium propagates towards the sources of nutrients, spans them with its network of protoplasmic tubes and even crosses bare substrate between the continents. From the laboratory experiments we derive weighted Physarum graphs, analyse their structure, compare them with the basic proximity graphs and generalised graphs derived from the Silk Road and the Asia Highway networks.
