THE INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM OF THE AMERICAS Thriving Within the New Economic Cycle FINANCE – ENERGY – BUSINESS STRATEGY PROGRAM April 4, 2011 Palm Beach County Convention Center www.pbstrategicforum.com PLATINUM SPONSORS THE INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM OF THE AMERICAS Sponsors PLATINUM GOLD WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT PARTNER www.pbcalliance.com SILVER FAMILY JEWELERS SINCE 1954 MONTRÉAL - PALM BEACH MEDIA PRESENTED BY 2 THE INTERNATIONAL ECONOMIC FORUM Message from the President OF THE AMERICAS and Chief Executive Officer The first edition of the Palm Beach Strategic Forum will reflect on how private and public companies, entrepreneurs and governments can con- tribute, within the context of an uncertain recovery, to the development of strategic sectors of the economy. Competition for world markets is greater than ever and our ability to compete internationally increasingly affects our standards of living. At the same time, the business world requires man- agers to manoeuvre within a highly complex and uncertain environment. What business mod- els are best suited to thrive within this new economic environment? Are governments on the right track in the shift to austerity? Can international trade still contribute to wealth creation for local businesses? How can the U.S. energy sector play a key role in a sustainable recovery? Against the background of this period of potentially profound economic change, the objec- tives of this first Palm Beach Strategic Forum are threefold: 1.To provide a realistic and comprehensive portrait of today’s and tomorrow’s international economy: What are the new rules of the game in terms of finance and innovation? 2.To provide participants with strategic information on how to succeed in the changing international marketplace: How can businesses take advantage of these new rules? 3.To provoke productive thinking on the part of participants by focusing discussions on finance and innovation. I wish to thank our partners and sponsors, who made this Forum possible. Enjoy the con- ference and we look forward to welcoming you again next year. Sincerely, Nicholas Rémillard President and Chief Executive Officer 3 Monday, April 4 FINANCE – ENERGY – BUSINESS STRATEGY 7:30 REGISTRATION Breakfast offered by Allied Energy 8:30 WORDS OF WELCOME (BALLROOM BC) Gil Rémillard, Founding Chairman, International Economic Forum of the Americas Jonathan Spector, President and CEO, The Conference Board Inc. 9:00 OPENING PLENARY SESSION (BALLROOM BC) Understanding the New Economic Cycle: What Has Changed?
