The village falls into the Parish of Weston Rhyn. The area also covers Bronygarth and the Wern , Rhoswiel and Chirk Bank. Weston Rhyn is approximately 4.5 miles from Oswestry and 1.5 miles from Chirk. The village sits on the main Shrewsbury to Chester railway but has no station. The Weston Rhyn historically was a former coal mining area. The pits have long since closed.
