Appointments to positions are made based on your own merits. Applicants from the Christchurch Clinical School are not guaranteed a position at Canterbury DHB just because they trained here.

What will my rosters look like?

The frequency of long days is different on different runs, but is generally between 1:6 and 1:9. As a first year House Officer, you will not be allocated to night duty until you have at least three months of job experience under your belt. If your first run is a General Medicine run, you can begin doing nights in your second run. However, if your first run is not General Medicine, you cannot do nights until you have worked for 6 months.
