POLLUTION INCIDENT RESPONSE MANAGEMENT PLAN (PIRMP) SOLVAY INTEROX - BANKSMEADOW - EPL 1255 The Protection of the Environment Legislation Amendment Act 2011 (POELA Act) includes a requirement that holders of Environment Protection Licences (EPLs) prepare and implement a pollution incident response management plan. More information on the POELA Act and PIRMPs is available on the NSW EPA Website. The following two parts of the plan are required to be available to the public. 1. PROCEDURE FOR CONTACTING RELEVANT AUTHORITIES IN THE EVENT OF ACTUAL OR POTENTIAL ENVIRONMENTAL HARM. If any pollution incident occurs where there is a risk of material harm to the environment, or an immediate threat to human health or property, then after calling 000, the Solvay Interox Emergency Management Team will notify the relevant authorities in the following order. NOTIFICATION OF ADJACENT COMPANIES AND NEIGHBOURS If the risk of the pollution incident represents an immediate threat to any neighbour or member of the public then they need to be advised of the safest action depending on the threat. This should be done in consultation with the Botany Bay Local Area Command (L.A.C), based at Mascot Police Station. Phone the Mascot Police Station on 8338 7339 and inform the Local Emergency Operations Controller (LEOCON) of the situation. With the aid of the Police Community Liaison Officer, the LEOCON may decide to start an immediate neighbour notification program to the impacted neighbours. Assistance with contact details of immediate neighbour’s can be provided by the Solvay Interox Emergency Management Team. Information updates in the event of an incident will be posted on the website.
