Having studied Fashion Design I worked for a short time in Costume , however quickly got lured into the magical Art Department to work as a Stand By. Then I moved onto Buying / Dressing and Decorating, followed by Art Directing and Designing. Every so often I get the chance to combine my costume role which is always fun ! This evolution has given me a solid understanding of how the Art Dept works and what is required from each and everyone in the team. I love to be hands on where possible. Most of my work has been in Australia but I have been lucky enough to do a couple of films overseas which has been both challenging and rewarding. I went on to study Interior Design while working and have a keen interest in Art, Architecture, History and Culture, Restoration and Travel. My partner and I have owned and run a mid century furniture and collectables store for three years alongside the film and T.V work. I have also done a number of café/ pub fit outs and decorated privately for clients selling homes. My experience is varied in Film and TV, contemporary and period, comedy and drama. I’ve also done some TVC work with companies to include Exit, Radical Media, Film Business and Great Southern. Film & TV projects include - The Secret Life of Us 1,2,3 & 4, Irresistable featuring Susan Sarandon, Till Human Voices Wake Us with Guy Perce and Helena Bonham Carter, and The Pacific to name a few. Utopia Season 2 , The Spirit of the Game, and The Dr Blake Mysteries 1,2,3 & 4 most recently. (August 2012) Evleen Michelle Nasir, B.A., Texas A&M University Chair of Advisory Committee: Dr. Kirsten Pullen There is a discursive formation of incapability that surrounds senior women’s sexuality. Senior women are incapable of reproduction, mastering their bodies, or arousing sexual desire in themselves or others. The senior actresses’ I explore in the case studies below insert their performances of self and their everyday lives into the large and complicated discourse of sex, producing a counter-narrative to sexually inactive senior women. Their performances actively embody their sexuality outside the frame of a character. This thesis examines how senior actresses’ performances of sexuality extend a discourse of sexuality imposed on older woman by mass media. These women are the public face of senior women’s sexual agency.

  • Silence of the Lambs Clear Oscar Favorite
The Harris Poll \ 7 For release: Sunday AM, March 29, 1992 1992 #w ISSN 0895-7983 SILENCE OF THE LAMBS CLEAR OSCAR FAVORITE by Humphrey Taylor "Silence of the Lambs" is clearly the favorite among this year's crop of Oscar nominations, according to this special Harris Poll conducted just prior to the awards ceremonies on March 30th. This movie was picked as best picture, and Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster were selected as best actor and best actress for their roles as the leads in Silence of the Lambs. The public was asked who should win the Oscar only from these three categories, and its choices are definitely reflective of the popularity of the movies nominated. "Silence of the Lambs was picked by 28 percent of the public, closely followed by "Beauty and the Beast" at 24 percent. These were the only two movies which were nominated for best picture that were also among the top fifteen box office draws in 1991. Rounding off the rest of the list of the public's preferred choices for best picture are l1JE'Ku1at 18 percent, "Prince of Tides1' picked by 9 percent, and "Bugsyl' chosen by 4 percent. Among the five actors nominated for best actor Anthony Hopkins wins 28 percent of the public's support. Nick Nolte for "Prince of Tides" comes in second with 17 percent and Robin Williams for "The Fisher King" receives 15 percent. Robert De Niro for his role in "Cape Fear1' and llBugsyll'sWarren Beatty earn 12 percent and 10 percent respectively. The selections for best actress were more one-sided than for any of the other categories that were asked about.

  • Changing the Scripts: Midlife Women's Sexuality in Contemporary U.S. Film
Sexuality & Culture (2010) 14:17–32 DOI 10.1007/s12119-009-9057-y ORIGINAL PAPER Changing the Scripts: Midlife Women’s Sexuality in Contemporary U.S. Film Rose Weitz Published online: 9 September 2009 Ó Springer Science + Business Media, LLC 2009 Abstract This article examines the portrayal of midlife women’s sexuality in 13 recent U.S. narrative films. Content analysis of these films suggests that film por- trayals of midlife women’s sexuality are relatively muted, with the most positive portrayals found in the broadest comedies. In addition, midlife women’s bodies are more often displayed as objects of humor than as objects of desire, the ‘‘female gaze’’ at the male body is shown only humorously, and midlife women’s sexuality is primarily validated for slim, white, middle-class women in committed romantic relationships with ‘‘age-appropriate’’ partners. Nevertheless, these films suggest that midlife women should have sexual desires, should act on those desires, should experience sexual pleasure, and should not sacrifice their sexual needs for a man’s approval. Keywords Women Á Midlife Á Aging Á Film Introduction In 2006, the oldest of the 78 million U.S. baby boomers turned 60 while the youngest (typically defined as those born in 1964) moved toward their mid-40s. Not coincidentally, a spate of popular articles and books appeared arguing that midlife sexuality was blossoming. These included Dr. Ruth’s Sex After 50, Gail Sheehy’s Sex and the Seasoned Woman, and the February 20, 2006 Newsweek cover story on ‘‘Sex and the Single Boomer: The New World of Midlife Romance.’’ As evidence of this cultural shift, more than one author cited Diane Keaton’s brief nude scene as Jack Nicholson’s lover in Something’s Gotta Give or the R.
